Chapter 1 - chapter 1

I woke up on a dirty mattress, confused and terrified, feeling horrible and having no memories of how I got here. I looked around; I was in some kind of metal hut. I quickly stood up, tripping over myself as I could barely walk. I fell through a sheet metal door; the hinges, rusted, broke instantly.

I struggled up, my body in pain as if I had just run a marathon. I squinted my eyes, the brightness of the sun blinding me. I slowly opened my eyes, trying to adjust to the sun. I looked around confused, my mind finally starting to clear up, the haziness disappearing. I realized I was in some forest, with trees and bamboo all around me, nowhere close to where I remember. Bamboo doesn't even grow in America.

I started breathing heavily, my mind completely overwhelmed. After what felt like hours to me, I finally managed to calm down, my breathing slowing down as I tried to get my bearings. As I finally got myself under control, I realized something, something that should be impossible: my body. It's different. I looked at my hands; they're small, nothing like an adult's. It's like a kid's, but that's impossible. How could I have turned into a kid? Was I isekai'd, reincarnated, reborn?

I almost lost myself again in panic, but I managed to stop myself from spiraling. After a few seconds, I started to realize how bad I felt, yet at the same time, having never felt better. It was a confusing bodily experience. It felt like I decided to take a nap after school, saying it would only be an hour, yet having woken up the next day.

My eyes were crusty with sharp gunk in the corners of my eyes, my mouth felt completely dry, my body was completely sweaty, yet at the same time, I felt like I could run in circles for hours without getting tired.

My body was no longer the useless body of a fat 18-year-old; it was that of a young, probably 10 or 12-year-old. No longer did my back hurt as if I was 60 years old.

My fingers didn't hurt when I cracked them, and everything looked so different. It was so clear, and I wasn't even wearing glasses.

It looked so colorful. When I was in my old body, everything was so dark and gray, but this body, or maybe this world, everything looks so colorful.

It's all so vibrant. I almost started crying just taking everything in, being able to see 3 meters in front of me without everything blurring, the texture of everything around me visible without needing to walk up to it or put on glasses, the world looking like a dream with its colors.

I just sat there looking around me for a few minutes, at the beautiful green of the trees and bamboo, the light from the sun filtering down through the trees with a brilliant blue peaking through above the trees from the sky. After I stopped looking at everything around me for the tenth time, I finally started to think what I should do.

Chances are I was either isekai'd into an anime world or reincarnated in some fanfic world. Either way, the chance that I'm actually real and not some main character of some story is near zero.

I sighed, but that doesn't matter. I shouldn't focus on whether I'm real or not right now. The fact that I'm here now in the middle of a jungle is more important. My survival comes first after that, I can comprehend my existence.

I sighed, getting up. If I was reincarnated, I do hope it's a world like Frieren, One Piece, or maybe Dragon Ball.
