I had been transported to another realm—earth. I was somewhere inside South Korea if I wasn't mistaken. During the information process, transmitting the necessary details I needed. I knew what I had to do.
Glancing again at the tall building, and the scorching hot sun shining intensely, I decided to step out of the quiet dark place I was hiding. For a minute, I froze. My field of vision shook violently. I fell to the ground, clutching my chest. The pain shot up intensely. Confused, I wasn't even sure what was going on. Perhaps it was a change in atmosphere because it subsided almost immediately.
I shook my head this wasn't going to reduce my morale not one bit.
"First off, I needed to explore this goddamn city," I muttered . I didn't transform into my vielborn form, though it was customary for a reaper to switch form almost immediately. It required a very high level of mana before a human could see or sense us in that form, it was solely because of us such reasons, tasks like taking away lives had several levels of difficulty.
Despite we couldn't be seen in this form by regular people, I couldn't keep an intangible form for more than 2 or 3 minutes, even others could only boast for about 10 mins.
After the time elapsed, I would still be in my reaper form but I could be seen by anyone. So it was important to complete task quite quickly
This task was ranked E- level, meaning this individual was just a regular human so it was something a rookie reaper like myself should be able to handle.
Albeit we were given a day to a week to complete our task but nevertheless, I wasn't really looking forward in returning soon but it was something beyond me. I wasn't accustomed to this world, neither was I familiar with their rules so it was going to be hard to blend in.
The only thing going for me was that I looked exactly like a human, which was why they rarely disguised them-self in their humaniod form when coming to earth. It was better to wait until night fall, but since I was an exception I decided to walk around the nice city of Seoul before I carried out my mission.
I felt cold stares from some people, it was starting to feel like I was Nekronis over again, but nevertheless I could tell it wasn't my appearance but my outfit it was a long black torn robe that would make anyone stand out. Observing this world, it was more rowdy and busy unlike Nekronis, it had several street lights on the road, and there were objects moving across the roads.
I had read a lot since I had free time so I was able to learn a little about the human world but this particular object had escaped my knowledge.
Lost in my train of thought while walking across the beautiful city, I felt slight contact with someone. "Oww, sorry," the voice squeaked. I took a glance at the person who I had bumped into, rather bumped into me.
"No problem," I said taking a look at her, she wasn't very tall compared to me, a slim slender girl, she had huge chest which made her stand out. She had a blonde curly hair with a blue band on it. I took a glance over at her by doing so, I locked eyes with her. It wasn't a staring contest, but I didn't look away, upon that she quickly averted her eyes. Dusting off the dirt of her clothes, she raised her head a little bit looking at me.
"Y-Y- You're very tall mister," she said looking at me curiously. Perplexed by what she said I was left confused it wasn't something I've been told before, out of curiousity I replied back. "Is that a good thing?" I asked. "Y-yes mister," she replied almost immediately. She was about to say say something but stopped.
Not wanting to take much of her time and cause attention, I turned off and started walking. "W- wait," she screamed. What is it now, I muttered to myself. Turning back to her face her again. "Well, I was wondering," she hesitated. Already getting irritated, but I kept an unreadable expression.
"W-well I was wondering if You would accompany me!" "What?" My brow raised a little, there was simply no connection between us so why make such requests, humans were truly weird.
"Why should I?" I asked somewhat interested. "W-w," she trailed off again fiddling with her thumbs, "I'm meeting up with my brother You see, he has a girlfriend so I wanted to bring a boyfriend myself," she said averting her eyes, quite flustered. "But----," my words cut off as she continued, "A friend was supposed to meet up you see, but he cancelled because his girlfriend needed him." " So why me, we accidentally just crossed paths," I said.
"I know, I know, but you're quite...." She stopped for a bit, she was getting a little bit red, was it because of the sun I wondered. I didn't want to say something that would cause suspicion. "Well, I was wondering if you'd pretend to be my boyfriend, I can pay you, if you don't mind." Money huh, what a strange and interesting girl not only was I approached by the opposite sex, but I was offered a role to play the part of a boyfriend, a type of relationship where people were more than just friends, that I knew.
I Thougt about it, she didn't find me repulsive and if I wanted to explore this world I needed a little bit of cash. Looking at the somewhat eager girl before me, I spoke out. "How much will you pay?" She grinned then spoke out "70,000won" "hmm, 100,000" I said not trying to agree with her, but honestly I had no idea how much it valued trying to use the same value in my world would be probably wrong.
She looked at me for bit, she scanned me from head to toe with a piercing gaze. "Well I think that's fair enough for me," she said with a smile. Though, I was happy, I finally got some money but still, judging from her expression it would seem it was rather cheap and I have been scammed.
"The name is Yoon Rin-ah," she said somewhat pleased rubbing her nose. "Well, what is your name then," she asked. "It's Ji.." "Ji-ho" "wow, you're strange one Ji-ho." "Well, let's not waste more time," she said, suddenly remembering something.
"Well do you have other clothes, we can't probably go with you wearing a robe," she said. "Well.." I paused "I'm homeless you see," I said, rubbing the back of my head. Well it wasn't a lie in a way. "I'm soo...sorry she said," she thought for a moment on what to do, gently caressing her lips with her index finger.
"Yh, I got it, let's get you a make-over," "m-make over?" I asked, confused about what she meant. "I couldn't fully tell if she was surprised but she laughed a bit, "you're really a strange one Ji-ho," she said, grabbing my hand.
I was taking first to a barber's shop, the level of advancement between earth and my world was like night and day. There were things I'd never seen before and some things I had heard from those speaking of their past adventures and importantly some the books I read. I had tried to be nonchalant several times putting a brave front despite the fact I was clearly scared.
"Wow" "is he your boyfriend" "is he a model" the saloon suddenly became rowdy and intoxicating with several noise and distant voices. "Please ladies!, Behave yourself." A slightly matured woman spoke out which reduced the ruckus a little bit. "You're quite the ladies man huh," Rin-ah said, smiling. I wondered how I got into this situation and whatever was even happening.
I was asked several times if I was model, atleast I knew what that meant, I said no. We went to different stops until finally we got to a boutique. After glancing at the huge building from the front I followed Rin-ah and entered. Inside was cold sending shivers down my spine.
I looked around the different outfits neatly lined up in different roles and untop each outfit there was a price tag attached. Tho I wasn't familiar with the prices I could tell the ones above the ¥100,000 won which I was going to receive was atleast expensive, they were even some of ¥10,000won.
Still looking at the clothes, "Ji-ho" Rin-ah called out and signalled with her hand for me to approach, following her request I walked towards her. "So I'm going to get a suit for you to wear," she said. I simply nodded.
She glanced over several types and had made me try on several clothes and eventually we were....,rather she was able to get something that fit her taste. Taking a look at it from the mirror it was nice suit. The fabric were soft and smooth.
I was asked to take them off first, slipping back into my robe she was asked to make payment for the outfit. "Ma'am that would be ¥300,000won." The cashier stated. "Ohhk," she said giving something like a card, I had forgotten the name of the item. After few clicks and beeps the card was returned back to her.
From the little time spent here, I could obsevere she was rich and she didn't care about spending it either ways, I genuinely felt grateful for this experience though I didn't let it show on my face and I didn't express any gratitude.
"Well, let's get going," she said after glancing at her phone. Well even tho I enjoyed this slight distraction it was best after this I should complete my mission and probably waste the remaining week I intended to stay here.
