Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: First Gacha

[UNLIMITED GACHA UNLOCKED | 1x Daily Draw Available]

[Would you like to pull now?]

Takuya stared at the screen in front of him for quite a long time. He was still hesitant to touch it. The last time he did gacha, the result was trash, but his addiction to gacha made him curious. Still, he hesitated again when he was about to do it.

"What if a bear appears and immediately attacks me?" Takuya shook his head. He did not want to die. "But... in the novels, manga, manhwa, or manhua that I read, summoned creatures should obey their summoner. This is worth trying."

[Yes / No]

Takuya raised both of his hands, but he was still unsure. All of this felt familiar, but experiencing it directly was something different.

"Am I going to walk the path of an anti hero?" Takuya muttered softly.

He had always imagined himself as a main character in a novel who played the role of an anti hero. It made him feel cool. Someone who looked evil, destroyed many things for a greater good.

Takuya nodded slowly. He smiled to himself while imagining it. "Oh, this is interesting."

Takuya pressed the [Yes] button with confidence.

A dazzling blue light burst from the floating screen. The air around him trembled, as if something was trying to break through from another dimension. A magic circle glowed on the floor, forming complex patterns that reminded him of classic magic anime.

It looked slightly similar to the magic circle that summoned him to this world. Takuya swallowed hard, waiting with a pounding heart.

Then, from the shining vortex of light, something appeared.

Something very small.

Plop!

The object fell right in front of Takuya's feet. There was no explosion. No shockwave. No dragon roar or tiger roar. Only a light falling sound, like a fruit falling from a table. Takuya froze, staring in confusion for quite a while.

"...What is this?" Takuya muttered.

He looked down.

An apple.

Fresh red. Shiny. Half bitten, with clear bite marks at the edge. This was not what he expected. In isekai novels, summoned people usually get overpowered abilities, but he only got an apple. Just an apple. Nothing more.

"..."

Takuya stood still. A silent wind gently brushed past his ears.

"WHAT IS THIS?!" he finally shouted, breaking the silence.

[Congratulations!]

[You've summoned: Apple]

[Effect: Unknown]

[Try eating it?]

Takuya blinked several times. He waited for more explanation, but there was none. No mysterious narrator voice. No elf woman appearing from the light to explain things. Just an apple. A piece of apple. It did not move. Nothing magical happened at all.

[Try eating it]

"This might be a poisonous apple," he muttered while staring at the small fruit suspiciously.

But its sweet aroma was tempting. Fresh. Even his stomach suddenly growled. He realized that he had not eaten anything since he arrived in this world.

"If this were a manhua, this apple should be a legendary item. An apple left behind by an ancient god hundreds of years ago." Takuya nodded repeatedly, hoping that was true.

He wanted to eat the apple, thinking it would be a delicious dessert.

He stood up and looked around. No servants came. He sat back down and looked at the apple again. Takuya felt disappointed because no one brought him food.

He was truly forgotten.

"It looks like I have no other choice," he sighed softly.

With slight hesitation, Takuya picked up the apple. Then he took a bite.

"Itadakimasu!"

In an instant, his eyes widened. He was shocked. The apple was incredibly delicious. He was sure it was the best apple he had ever eaten. Takuya ate it eagerly.

Takuya finished the apple completely. He stayed silent for a while, sitting cross legged. He hoped that something unique would happen to his body. He stretched out both of his hands, hoping to get a cheat skill, an elf girl, or at least a useful weapon.

Unfortunately, nothing happened.

"What is this? Why is this useless? Where is the power to conquer the world?" Takuya complained.

Takuya reached his hand toward the screen that was still floating in front of him. He tried to touch the [Gacha Draw] button again, but the screen immediately changed.

[Daily Gacha has already been used.]

[Reset time: 6 Hours 32 Minutes]

"Eh...?!"

He stared at the notification as if he was seeing a curse. He could not believe it. His finger touched the screen again, trying to force the system, hoping for any extra option at all.

[Failed!]

[Failed!]

[Failed!]

"I am sure there is something hidden."

He pressed it again and again.

[Failed!]

[Gacha can only be used once per day.]

[Would you like to buy an additional ticket?]

[Yes / No]

Without thinking, Takuya chose Yes.

[Sorry! Shop feature is not unlocked yet.]

[Account level too low! Reach level 30 first!]

"So it really is only once per day? Then... I am just a normal human trapped in a foreign world without any cheat ability. Is this not unfair? I even have bad stats. Is this not too cruel?" he complained.

Takuya clicked his tongue in frustration. The only hope he had to survive in this world was gacha. And only once per day. And the result was just one apple. He did not know what he would get tomorrow. If the result was trash again, he would curse everyone he met.

"At this rate, I will die before I get a rare item or skill!" he complained.

Takuya lay down on the rotten straw inside the horse stable. The smell of urine and leftover filth still clung to the floor. The sound of hooves stomping and loud snorting from the horse next to him made him grimace. It was hard for him to sleep.

"Why are they so noisy?" Takuya complained.

He closed his eyes. He forced himself to sleep, even though it was itchy, cold, and painfully noisy.

Not long after, his breathing slowed.

Takuya fell asleep.

**

The next day, he woke up. He went to meet the servants, but he was ignored. Takuya forced his way through, and finally he was able to meet Seraphina in the training area.

When Takuya arrived there, Seraphina only glanced at him briefly. After that, she looked toward the three other heroes.

"Why did you come here?" Seraphina asked coldly.

"Hey, miss!" Takuya said with a slightly raised voice. "You summoned me to this world. At least give me proper facilities."

"What is the result of your Gacha skill today?"

Takuya scratched his head. He hesitated to answer. If he told the truth, he would likely be looked down on even more. But if he lied and could not prove it later,

he would be finished.

"Hahaha, I have not done it yet," Takuya answered while scratching his head.

"You only got an apple, right?" Seraphina said.

At that moment, Takuya was shocked. His eyes widened and he swallowed hard. Seraphina already knew what really happened.

"Were you spying on me? That is very rude," Takuya complained.

"Tomorrow we will go to the forest to level up. You may come with us and we will give you proper food. Do not be late. And... tomorrow will be your test. If you are useless, then you will be discarded."

Seraphina said that without looking at Takuya. In this world, potential and skills were everything.

If you had an overpowered skill, then you would become strong and respected. But if the opposite happened, then you would be looked down upon.

Just like Takuya, who only had one skill, [Daily Gacha].

"If you become a burden, then we will throw you away. Remember that!"

Takuya's eyes became sharp. "She really hates me."

Takuya really wanted to curse, but when he saw Shigeru fighting against Aika, a magical explosion created a massive gust of wind.

Seeing that, Takuya was stunned. "This is just like magic anime," he said while swallowing hard.

"No wonder they are treated so special. They are strong. Meanwhile, I..." Takuya could only smile awkwardly. "...only have one stupid skill."
