Chapter 37 - Chapter 37 | The Big Three

The Next Day - Opening Ceremony

"Hey! It's the small mammal you all love, the principal!" said Nezu. "Recently, the fur I'm so proud of began to deteriorate. It's hard for me to take care of it."

(And what does this have to do with the opening ceremony?) Satoru thought.

"Anyway, recently, we lost a pillar. You all know what I'm talking about, I guess," said Nezu. "The effects of that incident have appeared faster than I imagined. I also guess there'll be a lot of chaos in society. Particularly, this will be most apparent to those of you in the hero course."

(Oh, that's great... even more trouble.)

"You must approach activities outside school," Nezu continued. "Like the internship you already did this year. Also, I don't want you to forget you're the successor of this society."

"And now, we have a few warnings from the non-curricular guidance teacher, Hound Dog."

Hound Dog said something no one understood.

(Is he speaking Arabic or something?)

"In short, two students were fighting last night," said Vlad King.

(Please, don't tell me he's talking about Izuku and Bakugo...)

"In Class 1-A," added Vlad King.

(Okay, he's talking about Izuku and Bakugo.)

"You may be unused to life at the dorms," Vlad King said. "But let's live a life of moderation. That's what he said."

(Thanks for the translation, Vlad-sensei.)

__________

Class

"Okay then," said Vlad King. "We'll be continuing regular classes starting from today. A lot of things happened, but you'll need to switch gears and focus on your duties as students."

Reiko raised a hand. "Can I ask a question?"

"What is it, Yanagi?" Vlad King asked.

"Can you tell us what the 'hero work studies' that came up earlier are about?"

"To put it simply," said Vlad King. "They're hero activities outside the school. Like the internships you did under heroes before, only closer to the real thing."

Satoru leaned in his chair. (Sounds cool...)

__________

The next day

Vlad King entered the class. "In your seats, everyone."

Everyone sat down.

"Morning," said Vlad King. "Today, we will delve deeper into what we talked about yesterday."

He looked at the door. "Please come in."

Two guys and a girl entered the room.

"There's no one better to explain what it's all about than three third-year students who are experiencing it firsthand," said Vlad King. "They are known as the Big Three."

Satoru took a look at them.

(I know you think I'm going to say that girl with blue hair is cute, but I have a girlfriend now. I must be loyal and-)

(Oh shit, she's beautiful!)

(Nevermind, I tried.)

"Can you please introduce yourselves?" Vlad King asked. "Let's start with you, Amajiki."

"I'm..." the guy with purple hair tried to speak up. "Mirio... Hado... I can't do that, I'm too shy..."

He turned back.

"Oh, listen, Amajiki-kun!" said the girl. "That's called having the heart of a flea!"

"Anyway, this is the flea, Tamaki Amajiki, and I'm Nejire Hado."

(Remember, Satoru: you have a girlfriend... You must be strong... I won't fall for this girl, not even in a lifetime...)

"We were asked to talk to you guys about work studies. But wait..."

She pointed at Satoru. "You're the very famous Hideki Shirakawa!"

(Oh no, them too...)

"Is that true, you've been trained by Oro, the current #1 hero?" Nejire asked.

"Yeah, that's true," said Satoru, avoiding eye contact. (Do anything but eye contact, Satoru...)

"Can I have your autograph?" Nejire asked.

"Really? An autograph?" Satoru repeated. "I should be the one to ask you for an autograph... whatever, you'll have my autograph later..."

(Unbelievable, he even pulls up the best girl in the school...) thought Setsuna.

(Do I need to get jealous?) thought Itsuka.

"I'm going last to wrap things, okay?" said the blonde guy. "I'm Mirio Togata, and you look like you don't know what's going on, so I'm going to explain!"

"You guys got your provisional licenses as first years, right? The first years are on fire this year... what do you think about a fight, me vs all of you?"

"Good idea," said Satoru. "That's what I want to do: fight."

"You look pretty strong, Shirakawa!" Mirio exclaimed, pointing at him. "I'll remember your name, like you said to do during the Sports Festival!"

__________

Gym Gamma

"Are you serious?" Satoru asked.

"Totally serious!" said Mirio, stretching his legs. "You can come at me anytime, from anywhere. Who's first?"

"Me, of course!" said Satoru, sprinting forward. "Let's have a good fight, Senpai Togata!"

"I had no doubt!" smiled Mirio. He then lost his clothes and disappeared into the floor.

(As I thought, he has a Quirk that lets him slip through things...)

Mirio suddenly reappeared behind Reiko, and before Satoru could even notice, he had taken out half of the class.

"Now that the long-distance fighters are gone," said Mirio. "Let's fight, you short-distance fighters!"

"Tets, Itsuka, Kamakiri," said Satoru. "Don't jump in headfirst as I did. This guy is strong."

Mirio disappeared again. Satoru closed his eyes.

(Behind me!)

He turned and, as expected, he found Mirio. "SMAAASSH!"

Satoru attacked Mirio, but he slipped through his skin and countered, punching Satoru in the gut.

(Gah! That spot still hurts from Oro's punch...)

Mirio took down the rest of the class. Satoru spat blood.

"I see that you're still standing, Shirakawa!" said Mirio.

"N-no, wait..." muttered Satoru. "I... I surrender, okay? A punch of yours was enough."

"Haha! As you wish, Shirakawa!" laughed Mirio, putting his pants on.

__________

"Sorry for the girls who saw me naked!" said Mirio. "Did you think my quirk was strong?"

"Hell yeah," said Kosei.

"My Quirk's Permeation," explained Mirio. "It allows me to slip through everything. And I mean really everything. That means the ground, too. And when I deactivate my Quirk, I get repelled back to the surface."

"It looks strong," said Shihai.

"No, I made it a strong Quirk," said Mirio. "But I can't see, hear, or breathe."

"Thanks for the explanation, Togata," said Vlad King. "You can now leave."

"Wait, wait!" said Nejire. "I still want Shirakwa's autograph!"

"Oh, right..." said Satoru. He extracted a pen from his pocket and signed Nejire's notebook.

"Thank you, Shirakawa!" Nejire exclaimed.

The Big Three left.

"You're pretty popular with the ladies!" said Sen.

"Just shut up..." Satoru sighed.

__________

Dormitory

Satoru was sitting on his chair, drawing.

(I don't know why, but I feel like Shigaraki and the others are planning something, and I'm not involved in it... I'll reach them in their hideout when I have time. Also, because I'm missing Dabi and Himiko-chan...)

(While it's true that I'm starting to like my classmates and, in general, the people I've met in this school, I also care about the villains I grew up with. They're friends too. Especially Dabi, to whom I am very close. And, oh crap... how am I going to tell Himiko-chan I recognized her during the exam...)

He put down his pencil and closed the notebook. (It doesn't matter now. I need some sleep. I don't want to be a villain anymore, but I want All For One, so until I won't get it, I won't stop being a villain!)

(Soon, very soon... All For One will be mine.)
