Besides, Kalos didn't even have chickens.
But speaking of chicken meat—processing it would require special machinery.
This machine was co-designed by Gabriel and Clint's father, so Ron needed to stockpile metals and commission Clint to build it.
As for egg hatching: according to Pokémon mechanics, if a Pokémon had the Flame Body ability, it could accelerate incubation.
The Fletchling he'd caught in the forest—the breeding mother—couldn't be submitted with the order. So after fulfilling all deliveries, Ron planned to level it up in the Mines. Once it evolved into Fletchinder, he'd place it in the coop to see if it sped up chick hatching.
Having finished fencing the coop, Ron stretched and watched his Pokémon return one by one.
Thanks to the mine cart, their commute was much faster. The lead Rattata sprinted ahead, while Geodude carried storage chests, dumping ore into the farm's supply bins. The Fletchling foraging team arrived just as dusk fell.
With so many Fletchling gathering wild forage, daily income from foraging had nearly doubled—now hitting 3,000G per day.
But food consumption had skyrocketed too. Ron didn't plan to rely on foraging long-term. Once all Fletchling earned enough Potential Points and shipped to Kalos, he'd end this operation.
For future ventures, he considered expanding his Water- or Grass-type roster—Pokémon agile enough for fishing. He'd build fish ponds and sell seafood to Kalos.
Meat would be his flagship product. Stardew Valley's accelerated growth gave him an undeniable edge: even if Kalos had livestock, they couldn't compete with Pelican Town's rapid production cycles.
The path ahead gleamed with promise.
Ron stretched again and headed indoors.
Farm meals have diversified lately—especially with Berries as seasoning. But meat remained limited to fish.
As he served dinner, plating fish for each Pokémon, Ron suddenly remembered something he'd overlooked: Crab Pots.
With Crab Pots, he could catch Shrimp and Crabs!
His chickens wouldn't mature, lay eggs, and multiply enough for the table until mid-to-late summer at the earliest.
Ron wolfed down his meal and rushed out.

Meanwhile, at the Beach…
Willy fished as usual, Krabby beside him slowly eating a Sardine.
Willy exhaled smoke, eyes blurred by haze—until the float jerked violently.
"Krabby—Vice Grip!" he yelled, yanking the rod.
Krabby lunged, crushing a Remoraid that tried stealing Willy's catch.
Willy puffed proudly, unhooked the fish, baited the line, and cast again.
Footsteps sounded behind him.
He turned to see Ron approaching.
"Evening. Come to fish?" Willy squinted.
Ron shook his head and explained his purpose.
"Ah, Crab Pots! Got 'em." Willy handed his rod to Krabby, who instinctively took it and focused on the water.
"How'd you think of Crab Pots?" Willy led Ron into the fish shop.
The room reeked of fish—recent hauls piled in crates.
"Wanted some other seafood to be honest," Ron admitted sheepishly.
Willy grinned. "Perfect timing! Shrimps are plump right now." He handed over a blueprint.
"I also sell ready-made pots here," he added. "Might be worth buying later—saves you time once the farm's running."
Ron nodded gratefully.
"Oh—and Crab Pots need bait. Made from cave insect meat." Willy passed a recipe. "Speaking of which… can you get me 100 fresh insect meats?"
Yesterday at the saloon, Clint mentioned monsters had returned to the Mines.
Clint's Slugma made Mining easy—but as a Fire-type, its insect meat was too charred for Willy's standards.
"No problem," Ron agreed. Mining was already on his schedule; collecting meat was effortless.
"In exchange," Willy said mysteriously, "I'll share a special bait recipe. Works on fish… and some Water-types too."
He winked, patted Ron's shoulder, and returned to Krabby—reclaiming the rod.
"Catch anything?" Willy teased.
Krabby blew a bubble and scuttled away, legs flailing.
Willy's laughter echoed across the waves.
Ron watched, smiled, and headed back to the farm.
At the gate, he found Zubat doing "weight-loss drills" and Rattata waiting faithfully by the door.
