Background information
I signed up for horikoshi one of the middle class high schools in Japan . My name is Hikaru I'm 16 and I like playing soccer. Jin Is my bestfriend known since middle school. I usually practice in the gym before school Im usually the first one there but today she was there first. Her name was Sora. Her mom and my mom were on the same volleyball team as teenagers. Because her mom does volleyball she also does Volleyball. I love her dedication to volleyball . And also Jin knows I like sora . There there's Hana.
"Oh hello I didn't think anyone went to the gym this early it's not open yet ." I said to Sora.
"Yeah I usually don't come this early but I was thinking I should get more practice after all we do have a game next Friday." Sora responded
"Any reason is a good reason to practice after all you can always get better." My voice rang out like a bell. Then like out of thin air my first period teacher came and unlocked the door to the gym obviously me and sora had to set up equipment but we were different sports but somehow it felt good like at least we had one thing in common we like sports and sports is the one thing I'm so passionate about. "Hikaru can you help me I need to work on my bumping and passing?" She said with a slight scared tone in her voice. "Sure we could do a one-on-one even thought volleyball isn't really my thing I'll try." She smiled at me "Thank you Hikaru."
Before 2nd Period started
"Yo dude did you hear about sora?"
I was zoned out wasn't paying attention to nothing just thinking about how I could get better at soccer."Hey Earth to Hikaru" Jin's Voice was so loud it sounded like it echoed through the school."Oh yeah what happened?" I responded "I was asking if you heard about sora. Hikaru come on pay attention." His voice was so Annoying to me.
"No what happened to sora?" I responded with some tension in my voice. "Her parents are moving away to America for work ." He said with a dull voice "WHAT!? Why wouldn't you tell me this sooner Jin?" I sounded so worried. "I just found out today." "Ok thanks Jin." I was thinking in my head. I'll go after I'm done with school for the day because she's usually in there after school.
After School
I ran in there I was so tired I almost fell over I was breathing heavy. " Hikaru are you okay?"
"Please Sora you have to go to nationals. You… You're the one that taught me that. You need to work towards your goal everyday. And that even if you lose you keep moving forward. So please don't give up. It's not you fault that your parents are getting transferred overseas for work. That is just" I got cut off "Sorry Hikaru but I'm not going overseas. To be specific, my family is going overseas. But I'm going to stay here. A family friend is letting me live with them. That just means I looked stupid in front of her " Oh, Then that's cool!"
I was going to leave the gym. " I was pretty conflicted. I know it will be sad being away from my family. But I was reminded of the time when I first decided I wanted to go to nationals. So I still want to go to nationals. I don't want to give up on that dream." Sora smiled at me "And it's all because of you"
"Thank You, Hikaru! For being so worried about me." "But I didn't do anything" Sora threw me the volleyball. "You up for more one-on-one?" "Why don't we play Soccer this time?" "Sure thing!"
