Chapter 8 - Chapter eight

Estadey managed to descend the stairs with great difficulty. Reaching the end of the staircases, the view before her was out of this world.

The mansion walls were extremely tall and were carved in beautiful designs of mystical creatures on every pillar at each wall. The rooftop closed in a dome shape.

A huge chandelier almost holding five hundred candles, dimly lit the mansion having a dark but enchanting beautiful view resting in the center of the huge sitting room.

There was a huge two door way entrance of heavy, smooth maroon and polished wood.

Tall windows made if rainbow colored glass shards which didn't look broken but designed.

While slowly walking towards the door, she noticed there was no furniture in the large space around her.

She heard a loud clanking sound. And it came from the doors.

She squinted her eyes and saw two circular metallic knobs on either side. Estadey stood for a moment feeling uneasy.

Not from the admirable imperial view but the calmness she felt.

Suddenly she heard quick, tiny footsteps behind her as if running down the stairs.

Before she could look back ,a strong force pushed her aching body hitting hard on the floor.

She groaned in pain from the impact of the push. Minutes later, she managed to sit upright. A terrifying realization of the floor being wet ,struck her.

Not wet from any liquid but a vivid reminder of the strong scent of fresh blood that filled her nose. She started trembling when the once silenced pleading whispers, came back louder.

So audible, so close, the voice felt like they were in Estadey's mind.

Her eyes widened in disbelief. Seeing her hands covered in blood, half her face and hair and on her dress.

Then she felt it,that dangerous presence. It had her heart hammering against her ribcage. Instinct kicked in and she slowly stood up. Her breathing labored. Walking became a burden but she had to leave.

With difficulty, she walked towards the huge doors for an escape. The floor became warm and she realized she was barefeet .

Suddenly the fresh scent of blood was replaced by the stench of rotting corpses.

The stench made her stomach churn. Nausea building up in her throat.

A sharp pain shot through her right ankle,it made her stop moving any further.

A raspy voice called out to her. "Estadey go,don't stop and try to run away. " it said.

The half bodied corpse then latched on her hurting ankle. The grip was so tight that it reminded her of the bone crushing pain her wrist went through.

The half bodied corpse carried on repeating its statement without letting go of Estadey's ankle. Despite struggling out of its hold ,nothing helped.

Everything became a nuisance, the loud pleading wails, the corpse's words, adding the suffocating stench, body pain and a throbbing headache that made her trembling body fall to its knees.
