As I thought of how to win, he recovered from the dirt and charged at me. "Your dead kid!" He yelled with bloodshot eyes. I recovered my shield when he was impaired earlier, so I tried to block one knife and dodge the other. He used a feint and he swung at my eye. He sliced a large gash along the skin around my eye, and my left eye pooled with blood, having my vision.
I realized that this might be the end for me, and he swung for my neck, I desperately begged my body to see his attack and dodge it. Then suddenly time seemed to slow and I thought it might be the voice, but it turned out to be my heartbeat. I saw him move in slow motion, and a green glow showed on my eye, and I saw where he was aiming and I tried to dodge, but then I moved in slow motion too. I narrowly dodged his strike and I aimed for his head again, but this time I desperately tried to hit him hard enough to break the barrier.
I felt the warm energy flow through my arm and when I swung, his shield broke and he was bludgeoned in the head. He dropped dead in the alley. I took a second to calm myself, and then I checked his belongings for anything of value. I found his artifact, a silver ring with a blue sapphire on it. I also found a bottle with a red liquid, it seemed to be a health potion based on the "HP" label on it.
As I was about to leave, I saw a white orb go out from his body, and it enter into mine. I felt a surge of energy and I felt physically strongeer. I checked him one last time and found some money, about 6 silver. I chose to look for a more permanent place to stay because I'll be here for a while to get the 30 silver, and 1 silver a night is alot for the type of room I was staying in before. While looking I tried to use the artifact but it didn't activate, I didn't know why I couldn't use it.
After walking around a little, I found a cottage for sale and I asked the owners if it was available for rent. "Am I able to rent out this house for a few months?" I asked. "Sure, that'll be 5 silvers a month." I accepted and looked inside the cottage. It was just a one room house with a bed, fireplace and bucket to use the bathroom.
"For baths, there's a place just down the street that you can use, its about 25 copper to get in, or you can buy a yearly pass for 3 silver." He said cheerfully whislt giving me the key. "Okay, thank you. In Centi by the way." I replied. "I'm Mark" he said. I put my horse in a small stable behind the cottage and went to rest, which was nice to have a home, even if it's rented.
I awoke to knocking at my door, with Mark asking if I was hungry. I accepted and I went i to his house l, and I ate with his wife and kids. "I have a son just about your age" Mark said with a smile. "He's an amazing baker, you have to try it sometime!" He continued. "Mabye one day" I said with a small grin.
I went back to my apartment and decided to focus on gathering that green energy. So that I could get stronger. After about a week of meditating and trying to make 1 silver get me 14 meals worth of food, I decided to finish the quest and slay the wolves. They were slain fairly easily, and I rarely had to use my shield artifact. I extracted the teeth as proof of their kill and I went back to the guildhall to claim my reward.
While I was there I also took the quest to gather herbs and also to slay slimes. I went back to my house and then I just focused on making a schedule for the next few years of my life. I bought a blank book woth the 5 silvers and I began to make a diary of my experiences, then I devoted myself wholeheartedly to my training. I also realized the truth about the black box. I can only store inanimate objects, nothing alive can be stored. After 2 years I became a rank C-Hunter. 2 years after that, I also bought the house outright for 1 gold.
I became proficient in using the slingshot and I also learned how to imbue the aura all around my body, acting like a second shield. After 4 years, I saved up enough gold to buy that Blacksmith's masterwork for 5 gold. I bought it, then I also got a new slingshot and shield. I began to look for a good horse to ride with, and I bought a beautiful black horse which was bred to be fast. I treated it as my birthday gift after surviving 8 years in this new world. I finally got built enough to the point where the club isn't heavy, and I can wield it normally.
I bought another book and began writing about all I had learned about using the club, and I made a full guide on how to use the club as a weapon. I went back to the library and I learned that artifacts can only ne used by mages, so thats why I couldn't use the artifact the otherworlder had. While I was at the library, I showed the librarian the guide I made and she was stunned. She was intrigued by what I had wrote. "Can I buy this for my library? It seems like a nice guide, since only sword and magic guides exist." She asked with a hint of curiosity. "Sure, just let me make a copy of it."
I replied with a smug grin. I bought another blank book from her and I rewrote the guide, then I gave it to her as a parting gift. "What name should I put on the book?"
She asked. "My name is Centi van Ince, and title it whatever you wish." I replied. "You're a noble?" She said in surprise. "Yes, mabye I'll see you again sometime" I said. I bought 3 more blank books for the road and I put them into the black box. I left the store and went to the Danx Castle.
