Hyuga Arin chose Comprehension.
After thinking it through carefully, there were many ways to obtain skills—but experience was hard to grind.
At his current low level, experience seemed plentiful, but as he progressed further, it would inevitably become insufficient.
In the early stages, having many skills was indeed an advantage. But in the late game, what really mattered was skill level.
Synthesizing stronger skills required many max-level prerequisite skills, which meant the experience gap would only grow larger and larger in the future.
A player's strength wasn't supported by level alone. In the late game, the main bottleneck was always skill level.
A certain chakra-based method of stimulating brain development appeared in his mind.
From now on, whenever he used Brain Enkephalin, it would no longer just block pain and regulate emotions—it would also greatly enhance his comprehension.
[Brain Enkephalin (Lv10) | MAX | Trait: Comprehension]
Hyuga Arin began circulating chakra and activated Brain Enkephalin, intending to test its effects.
In an instant, his vision seemed to brighten.
His mind entered a state of unprecedented clarity—like someone who had been asleep for years suddenly waking up.
The colors of the world became vivid.
Leaves were an intense green. On the brown tree trunks, ants crawled clearly into view. Even the moisture suspended in the air felt tangible.
"It's almost like becoming a god…"
For a moment, he even felt an illusion of omnipotence.
He quickly steadied his mind and began reviewing his own taiTechnique—along with Hanzo's taiTechnique.
The two systems rapidly rearranged and recombined in his mind. Even the originally restrained Gentle Fist was pulled into the process.
Gentle Fist subtly integrated Eight Trigrams: Vacuum Palm.
A combat style perfectly suited to him rapidly took shape.
At the same time, certain hidden principles within Gentle Fist gradually became clear.
Just as Hyuga Arin was about to dig even deeper—
Everything suddenly dimmed.
The thoughts that had been spinning at high speed came to an abrupt halt.
Hyuga Arin rubbed his brow. Only a trace of chakra remained in his body. His body had sensed danger and forcibly cut off chakra usage.
"This state is poisonous," Hyuga Arin took a few deep breaths.
The sudden interruption of Brain Enkephalin felt like falling straight from the sky into a pit of mud—an intensely uncomfortable contrast.
He quickly adjusted himself, pulled out a Low-Level Mana Potion, and downed it in one gulp. His depleted chakra slowly began to recover.
He looked at his status panel.

Both Gentle Fist and Eight Trigrams: Vacuum Palm had increased by one level, and a new skill had appeared.
[Rotation (Lv1) | EXP (0/500) | Trait: None]
"So I've basically dug out everything the Hyuga main family has," Hyuga Arin muttered as he carefully experienced the Rotation skill.
If he were to use Rotation now, it would probably be on par with Hyuga Hizashi's level.
"Max-level skills really are god-tier… but Brain Enkephalin can't be used often, or it'll seriously affect me," Hyuga Arin sighed helplessly.
Brain Enkephalin consumed a massive amount of chakra. Just using it briefly had been enough to raise two skills by one level.
Of course, that was also because Gentle Fist and the Eight Trigrams techniques were things he'd practiced since childhood. Once certain key points clicked, a level-up was natural.
If it were other skills, the results wouldn't necessarily be this dramatic.
Hanzo's taiTechnique had also been successfully integrated into his Gentle Fist.
However—
The godlike sensation brought by Brain Enkephalin, followed by the crushing sense of loss when it ended, was enough to drive someone insane.
From a world of vivid color—
To a dusty, gray one.
In the span of mere moments.
It felt like falling from heaven straight into hell.
He glanced at the unconscious Hanzo, then leapt into the trees and left without hesitation.
Hanzo had no more value to him.
A cold wind passed through.
The unconscious Hanzo shivered.
…
The next day.
Hyuga Arin moved swiftly through the forest, his Byakugan constantly sweeping the surroundings.
The island wasn't large. Most of the remaining examinees quickly came into his field of vision.
Soon, he spotted two familiar figures.
"Found you."
Hyuga Arin changed direction, bounding rapidly through the treetops.
In the distance, Leorio and Kurapika had gathered together, apparently discussing something.
Hyuga Arin closed in at high speed, making no effort to hide his movement.
Kurapika immediately sensed something wrong.
He spun around, dual blades appearing in his hands.
"Something's coming."
"Kurapika, what's coming?" Leorio quickly turned as well, rushing toward the forest edge and drawing his short blade defensively.
Soon, they saw Hyuga Arin land on a branch, casually greeting them.
"Yo, you two."
"It's that weird guy!!" Leorio pointed at Hyuga Arin in shock.
The guy who could walk on cliff walls.
A vein twitched on Hyuga Arin's forehead. "No matter how you look at it, calling someone 'that weird guy' is pretty rude, don't you think?"
Kurapika asked warily, "Which of us is your target?"
Hyuga Arin chuckled. "Asking that so directly—are you planning to just hand over your number tags?"
Kurapika shook his head. "No. It's just that facing the two of us alone would be difficult. I hope you'll consider this carefully."
He didn't want to fight Hyuga Arin at all. In his eyes, this man was as dangerous as Hisoka.
Hyuga Arin let out a short laugh and jumped straight down from the tree.
"Sorry, but the two of you are far too weak for me right now."
He kicked off the ground and rushed toward them.
"Bastard! Don't underestimate us!!" Leorio roared, swinging his knife as he tried to intercept.
Hyuga Arin barely paused. He slipped past Leorio's blade and kicked him squarely, sending him flying.
Kurapika threw one of his blades—two knives connected by a chain.
Hyuga Arin raised his hand, a bronze blade appearing as he knocked Kurapika's weapon aside. He stepped in half a pace and struck Kurapika with the back of the blade, sending him flying as well.
The two of them together were no match for Hyuga Arin.
"The result's obvious," Hyuga Arin shrugged.
He suddenly twisted his body, dodging Leorio's sneak attack from behind, and snapped his hand like a whip against the back of Leorio's neck.
Leorio's eyes rolled back, and he collapsed unconscious.
At the instant Leorio was about to hit the ground, Hyuga Arin smoothly took the hidden number tag from him.
[Experience +34]
Hyuga Arin turned to look at Kurapika, who had struggled back to his feet, clearly intending to continue fighting.
"Still want to resist? The gap between us is pretty obvious."
Kurapika took a deep breath and finally gave up.
Hyuga Arin nodded at him, then leapt back into the trees.
He had no interest in getting too entangled with the protagonist group.
A few bounds later, his figure vanished from sight.
