Chapter 5 - Oak House(1)

The Sun, which was up high a few hours ago, had calmed down.

A gentle breeze blew as the day proceeded to another beautiful evening.

The trees swayed as if they were dancing and the little bird on it's branch, sang her heart out.

In conclusion, it was all too beautiful.

The surroundings were atleast..

If someone were to ask, dear writer how are you feeling.

'Life is ugly when you are starving and tied to a narcissist. '

Would be probably-no surely his reply.

Feeling like a slave.

Walking behind a master with heavy steps.

'With this unreliable maste-person. I may end up spending the night in the forest.'

'But, this forest..is loaded with poisonous snakes and insects. Not only that, the wild animals...I might end up cold the nextday.'

Shuddering, the writer continued to walk, while hugging his arms.

He was as worried as he was tired.

Having been on the verge of death a few hours ago, he was now a bit more cautious with his life.

Don't get the writer wrong, it's not like he was thrilled to be alive.

He just didn't want to be in that much pain again.

' I am not fond of being alive.'

' Rather, I am very picky about how I would die.'-was the kind of person he was.

He continued to delve into his own thoughts as he walked along.

But soon he noticed something strange.

A short tree with 'Mark loves Xavier' carved on it.

This tree.

How many times have I seen it already?

Two, three?

No, no, it's five times, at least.

He looked up at the-wore a long loose robe, looked more like a kite than a deity- deity, who seemed more and more unreliable with each passing minute.

No, no. This ain't right!

Could it be, is it?

He observed the deity as he glanced at the fork road. Proceeding to look at the two and choosing the left for the fifth time.

This guy!

This guy is a total direction blind!!!!

No doubt we spent the whole day in the forest!

At this rate we will be here till morning!

I gotta do something, but how?

The writer was thinking how to bring the topic, when they crossed the same tree for the fifth time.

Damn. Damn. Damn!

Here goes nothing, " Deity! I was thinking, uh, if you would be like, okay with me taking us to the village?"

" What did you say?" The deity glared back.

'Ok, life. Bye bye.'

The deity looked up at him from top to bottom and opened his mouth for another round of insult.

" You think I am- wait a second." Only to pause abruptly.

" From the start, why was I showing the way to a mere mortal.." He mumbled to himself.

The writer upon hearing these words, perked up.

" Exactly a boome- deity! Like you, shouldn't be doing this!" He said while smiling the same smile he would use on those of higher rankings.

' The service smile.'

After a shallow contemplation, the deity waved his hand forward.

Likely a sign for me to take the lead.

I breath a sigh of relief.

This brat, was such a handful.

Now, where should we go...I don't have any money and I seriously need food.

So that place would be perfect.

With a place set in mind, writer started to walk and the deity followed him elegantly.

.

.

.

Upon taking a certain route while walking through the forest, one would reach a small and peaceful village.

Silver wolf.

This was the place where his father had raised him before moving to their current home in a lord's territory.

This village was actually not under any lord's protection and acted independently.

Thus, not having the best job opportunities and becoming a not very likeable resident by the eager youngsters.

This combined with the village's isolation, often attracted thugs.

It wasn't an easy catch though, as the silver wolf actually resided in the village.

But he did not anymore, for, he was dead.

.

Stories say, He lived with his owner, the chief woman of the village.

She was said to be brave soldier and a beautiful woman.

Together with the few youngsters of the village they fought against multiple thugs who dared to attack their village.

Maintaining peace and living their life happily.

But as they say, good days don't last long.

The Chief and the wolf, both were found dead in their house.

.

The Wolf's whole body was pierced with multiple arrows and the chief was said to be poisoned.

Old folks say, the owner was poisoned long ago.

But for safety, the perpetrator fired arrows.

So as to make the Chief's death a sure case.

The Wolf, was likely present at the scene and tried to shield his owner with it's own body.

Resulting in it's demise.

The whole village was disheartened by this loss.

And they mourned for weeks.

Without the Chief's protection the village became an easy target for any sort of robber and they lived under constant fear for months.

One day, they say a silver Wolf was seen, same as the chief ha, circling the borders of the village with proud strides.

No one believed that rumour, calling it a drunkards bable.

But strangely enough.

The attacks on the village happened no more.

Word spread from one mouth to another, 'The silver wolf was protecting the village and no one with a black heart can pass it's borders.'

Thus, to honour the Chief and the silver Wolf's legacy. The village was named, Silver wolf.

They even celebrate a festival on the day the chief had died. To pay thier tribute and teach the next generation a lesson of friendship, courage and loyalty.

.

Some years passed and a new lord took over the territory.

Words from one mouth to other reached the lord's ears and the story touched their heart.

To honour the brave Chief and her loyal companion, the lord stationed some soldiers at the small village.

.

Named after a lonely wolf, protecting the village in dark, the village itself was no longer desolate.

All because of a single place.

Oak house.

This tavern like sounding place was actually a brothel.

And they say, this brothel was the best there was in the whole city.

Might sound like a fluke to you.

But it's all thanks to the owner, who, not only collected beauties from all over the kingdom but was also really influential.

Heaven knows why she chose to start her startup in a small village and not move to any other place for years.

But it all ended up well for everyone.

Even the soldiers frequently blowed up their half of their salaries there.

And now I am heading to that same brothel.

Ah! Don't get me wrong!

I have someone I know there, who can help me out.
