"WAIT!" She pounded on it. "LET ME OUT! I CHANGED MY MIND!"
There was no response from the other side.
Only darkness.
And silence.
"System," Xin Yi whispered. "System, I'm scared."
System didn't respond to her. What was going on? Why had it suddenly gone mute?
Xin Yi took a shaky breath.
Then another.
Then started walking.
Into the darkness.
Slowly, light began to appear, and not from torches or crystals.
From the walls themselves.
They were covered in flowers.
Lotuses. Hundreds of them. Thousands of them. Growing from the stone like it was the most natural thing in the world.
White. Pink. Purple. Blue.
All glowing softly.
And between the flowers…..
Serpents.
Carved into the stone. Painted on the walls. Coiled around the pillars.
The symbol. The mark. Everywhere.
"What is this place?" Xin Yi whispered to herself.
She kept walking.
The passage opened into a chamber.
MASSIVE.
So large she couldn't see the walls nor see the ceiling.
