Kushina Uzumaki, her hand firmly gripping Qianyu's, pulled him into the classroom. The other kids stared, mouths agape.
Qianyu and Kushina Uzumaki. Holding hands. That kind of closeness could only mean one thing: they were friends now.
The two people they disliked the most… had actually become friends.
They couldn't beat Kushina. They couldn't beat Qianyu either.
With the Red-Hot Habanero and the Traitor joining forces, how were they ever supposed to get payback?!
Qianyu ignored the stunned brats. His attention was fixed on Minato Namikaze.
Right now, Minato's eyes were locked on the spot where Kushina's and Qianyu's hands were joined.
Qianyu's eyes narrowed slightly.
Is he already into her? At this age?
Well. Not this time. Kushina Uzumaki was definitely not ending up with you.
Blushing furiously, Kushina pulled Qianyu over to their seats and sat down. Her boldness today had a purpose: to tell everyone, loud and clear, that Qianyu was her friend.
Their teacher, Masuda Hayato, entered and began the lesson. Qianyu shifted gears, focusing intently. The stuff taught at the Academy was basic, but basics were everything. They were the foundation. You skipped them at your peril.
The afternoon classes flew by.
After Masuda-sensei left, everyone packed up, ready to head home.
Kushina, however, stayed tense. Her eyes swept the room like she was scanning for hostiles.
"Kushina?" Qianyu asked, curious. "What's wrong?"
"Stay sharp," she said, her voice serious. "Those annoying jerks try to pick a fight with me every single day after school."
A pang of sympathy hit Qianyu. Brought to Konoha as a candidate to be the Nine-Tails' jinchuriki, only to be bullied by ignorant kids. And all the other jinchuriki out there… sacrificing themselves for their villages, never treated as heroes, just scorned and shunned.
He stepped in front of her. "I'll walk ahead. If they try anything, we'll beat them up together."
Watching Qianyu's back as he shielded her, a warm feeling spread through Kushina's chest. Starting today, she finally had a friend.
They walked out of the Academy gates. No one jumped them. No taunts. Nothing.
Kushina blinked, confused. "They're always waiting for me. What happened?"
Qianyu grinned. "Maybe you finally beat the fight out of them."
"Really?" Her eyes lit up. She punched the air with a small fist. "Yes! Finally! They were so annoying. Peace and quiet at last!"
Very naturally, Qianyu took her small hand in his. "Come on. I'll walk you home."
"Mhm!"
The moment his hand closed around hers, Kushina seemed to transform. Her usual boisterous energy vanished. Her voice grew soft, almost shy.
As they walked through the village, the stares from the villagers were still there, lingering on Qianyu with that familiar weirdness. But no one shouted insults. No public mockery.
Probably because word got out that Hiruzen Sarutobi visited me in the hospital, Qianyu guessed.
Following Kushina's directions, he escorted her all the way to the gate of Mito Uzumaki's residence.
Letting go of her hand, he said, "See you tomorrow, Kushina."
She ran to the gate, then turned and waved back at him. "See you tomorrow, Qianyu!"
With a little hop in her step, she disappeared inside the compound. Qianyu turned towards his own new home, his own footsteps feeling lighter, his mood significantly improved.
Inside, Kushina found Mito Uzumaki seated calmly in a chair. "Grandma Mito! I'm home!" she called out, launching herself into the older woman's arms.
Mito smiled, gently stroking Kushina's vibrant red hair. "You seem especially happy today. Let me guess… Qianyu is out of the hospital, and the two of you are friends now, yes?"
Kushina buried her face in Mito's robes, her voice muffled. "…Mhm."
Mito's smile softened with warmth. "Tell Grandma all about it. How did you become friends?"
Kushina recounted the whole story from the classroom to the walk home. As she listened, Mito's expression grew more and more fond.
"So Qianyu was the one who reached out first," Mito said. "A promise to be friends for a lifetime is a precious thing. You must both take good care of it."
Kushina nodded firmly. "I will! I promise!"
The next few days fell into a comfortable rhythm. Qianyu and Kushina were practically inseparable—walking to school together, walking home together.
Their bond grew deeper, more solid. There were no more topics off-limits between them.
Three days later.
After seeing Kushina safely back to Mito's residence after school, Qianyu made his way to the Hokage Building.
He'd promised Hiruzen Sarutobi he'd hand over the Thunder Breathing techniques to Konoha. It was time. Better not keep the Hokage waiting too long.
He stepped into the imposing building. Instantly, those familiar, uncomfortable gazes settled on him. He ignored them, walking straight ahead, his path unimpeded all the way to the second floor and the door to the Hokage's office. He knocked. It seemed Hiruzen had already given the order to let him through.
"Enter."
Hiruzen's voice came from within. Qianyu pushed the door open. Seeing him, Hiruzen's face broke into a smile.
"Qianyu. Your injuries have healed, I take it?"
"Thanks to you, Hokage-sama," Qianyu said, bowing his head slightly. "I've made a full recovery."
"Good, good." Hiruzen nodded. "To what do I owe the visit?"
Really? Qianyu thought. Playing dumb? You know exactly why I'm here. It's not for a heart-to-heart chat.
He pulled a scroll from his pouch and presented it with both hands, a gesture of respect. "Hokage-sama. This scroll contains the complete training methods for the sword forms of the Thunder Breathing I practice. I've recorded everything in detail to facilitate future learning."
Hiruzen accepted the scroll and unrolled it. The instructions inside were meticulous.
For example, the First Form: Thunderclap and Flash: the user must infuse their legs and arms with Lightning Release chakra to enhance their speed, simultaneously wrapping their weapon in shaped Lightning-nature chakra, before unleashing everything in one explosive burst.
Hiruzen looked up, puffing on his pipe. "Wrapping the weapon in Lightning chakra… does this require a weapon forged from chakra-conductive metal?"
Qianyu shook his head. "Simply applying shape transformation to the Lightning chakra to coat the weapon is sufficient. Of course, a chakra-conductive metal weapon would be better. The power would increase significantly."
Hiruzen went back to the scroll, smoke curling from his pipe as his eyes scanned the text.
With each line, his internal surprise grew.
This… this wasn't a ninjutsu.
This was Nintaijutsu.
The core characteristics of Nintaijutsu were clear. First, it required chakra extraction. Second, it could be activated without hand seals. Third, its method of attack was purely physical, through taijutsu.
These Thunder Breathing sword forms checked every single box.
More than that… this was the kind of complete, refined system that could serve as a clan's secret art, passed down through generations as a hidden technique.
