Elise didn't care about anything else anymore. Not the church. Not the people passing by. Not what she wore.
She cared about only Lucien.
This was urgent. Life or death urgent. And it had to be handled now.
"What? Sex?" Jiji shrieked. "Elise, have you gone mad?"
She clapped a hand over her own mouth when people turned to stare, eyes sharp with judgment. A few mothers quickly covered their children's ears as they walked past. Jiji groaned, rubbing her face.
"I can't believe this conversation is happening beside God's house," she muttered.
"People can hear us, Jiji," Elise whispered as she grabbed Jiji's arm and dragged her away from the church, her steps quick and uneven.
"Then explain it to me," Jiji demanded as they walked. "You have a boyfriend. Why are you coming to me to talk about sex?"
She suddenly froze. Her eyes widened in horror. And as if realizing something, Jiji gasped.
"…Are you a lesbian?"
"What?" Elise burst out laughing despite herself. "No!"
