Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

I always believed i was a gentle person, except on few occasions when people believed they could bully me because I look calm. That was when I pulled off the gentle apparel and get into a fresh new one, the judge. Not literally, I hardly have any interest in being a lawyer, I only call that side of me the judge because I don't wait for any body to judge a situation, I do it myself. Like when one of my classmate decided to take my seat after messing up her own seat with gum, and deciding she couldn't seat there until the gum had been washed off, or when a boy on my street intentionally hit me with his skateboard just to impress his friends. I'd promptly decided they were both bad and went ahead to teach them not to mess with me.

Apparently, his mother came to my house this morning to talk to my parents. My mother's glare as I came down the stairs this morning with my packed luggage was the first warning sign.

"Good Morning mum"

"Good morning, Dad" "Morning baby" my father responded instantly with an energetic grin

"Are you ready for today's journey?" "Yeah, kinda. Mum?" "Bad mood" my father mouthed from where he was sitted making me grimace. She was hardly ever in a bad mood

I walk outside to drop my box in the car with my dad's instruction and walk back in to hear my mom complaining.

"Mom, did I do something?"

"Yes lila, Mrs Presley was here this morning"

" who's that?" I answer back while trying to remember who that was

" The one whose son you hit yesterday"

"What! She came here? "

"Apparently" my father says with a grin screaming 'I'm proud of you'

"i didn't even do anything to him, it was just a few slaps" I say glaring at nothing in particular as I remembered, wishing I'd given the idiot a few more

"Well, baby don't be going around slapping boys unless you're sure you're strong enough to fight them" he says with a mischievous laugh

"Honey!" My mom groans from the kitchen where she is

"What?" My father replies still laughing

"You shouldn't encourage her like that, we don't want her to get in trouble"

" She wouldn't get into trouble, right baby?"

"Right" I reply back, giving my father a high five with a grin that matches his own

My mother shakes her head at both of us, before breaking into a smile too..she knows I can defend my self, all right. I started taking fighting lessons as soon as I could run around.

" The only trouble I'll be getting into is one that involves the principal smelly office" I say with a little shrug

" Well, don't get into anyone at all"

" I've got you, baby, he'll make an exception for you anyway" my mom and dad says respectively, making me laugh again.

" Like father, like daughter" my mom murmurs under her breath, though a little loud so we both hear her. We break into another laugh. My mum finally walks out of the kitchen carrying a cooler filled with enough soda for me and beer for my father.

"Lila, can you go into the kitchen and grab the tray filled with snacks." I walk into the kitchen while my father walk ahead of my mum to hold the door open for her. I'm sure he's also going to open the car door for her. I've never seen my mum get her own car door while my dad is there. When I walk out after locking the door and leaving the key under the door mat, I find my father picking up my suitcase that I had earlier placed into the booth.

"Baby, i told you to drop the suitcase in the booth horizontally, not vertically"

"Buh that's what I did" I grumbled

"That's not what you did, you placed it vertically that's why it fell out immediately I opened the booth"

"Lila, we still talked about horizontal and vertical lines last week, I can't believe you forgot again"

" Why does it sound so serious, why can't we just call it standing straight or lying flat" I replied with a straight face that made my parents burst into laughter. My dad corrected the suitcase, added the cooler and the tray and locked it back immediately. We piled into the car and my father moved out of the parking lot before I suddenly remembered.

"Wait! I forgot something"

" What?" My parents both ask from the front seat where they are

" My chocolates" I answer with an apologetic smile. My father stop the car immediately and I get down to grab my chocolates from my room. When I get back into the car, I find them both frowning at something on my dad's phone.

" What's going on?" "Nothing baby" my father replies with an uneasy smile, while my mum does her best impression of a fake smile which I recognize from all the times she has smiled at our neighbour whenever his dog messed up our garden.

I got comfortable and put on my headphones, blasting my already prepared playlist. We should be there in about 5 hours with 2 stops on the road to enjoy the snacks and the drinks.
