Chapter 16 - Cries

"Hey guys, I'm coming home."

Alex whispered as descended through the glamorous space that surrounded him.

As he descended, he felt no breeze, no pressure, no fear, no excitement or anything much of the sort.

His felt a rather faint calmness wash over his entire being. His body neither feel warm nor cold. His mind felt empty yet it had so much to be released that it just lain there.

It was if he had been enlightened in some way.

He looked around all he could see was light. He couldn't really tell the colors apart since most of looked to be pale-yellow or a bright golden yellow glow.

He didn't think much of it. For all he cared about right now was getting to see his family once more.

After what seemed to be like forever.

"Haaawwwhhh!"

Alex yawned deeply as he looked down as nothing seemed to have really so... why?

"Haaaawwh!"

Why was he so tired now of all times? Of all the times he'd run mad. Of all the times his body had gone the most horrendous and excruciating pains and transformations.

Why now?

Was place making him feel tired?

Or had he finally found comfort in a place that felt... safe?

From the bible, he remembers reading scriptures and so he thought, 'Could this place be resting haven the Lord set up for me?'

"Haaaawh!"

He yawned once more as his eyes began to flutter, but no tears came to refresh them.

He tried to stretch his body, but his body would not obey.

It was if his body had found rest before he did.

'Hm... my Lord... if that's the case... even if this all a dream. Even if it's all just a hallucination.... thank you, for letting me rest.'

He said weakly as his fluttered shut and his breathing calmed even further.

But...

Right now...

Swuuuuu!( gentle gush of wind)

Wasn't his time to rest... well...

Swuuuuuu!!!

Not yet atleast.

A faint yet clear hum of wind erupted as gentle waves of light slowly engulfed Alex's body. From his feet to his legs, to his abdomen and then...

"Ffffff."

Alex exhaled through his nose while he slept as the final waves of light consumed him whole.

...

The scene then shifts to the hospital room where Alex's mom, dad, sister and Dave sat.

The in the room was filled with a heavy sadness that none of the people in that room had ever felt before.

In the room, about 800 square feet, sat all of Alex's family and friends, but... they sat with sorrowful expressions.

Their breathing was laced with a brazen sorrow; their motion was still to none. Non lifted their heads as if they were all praying for someone.

But who?

It was Alex. He lain on a hospital bed shriveled and thin. His breathes were weaker than that of an insect, he hearts beats fluctuated between the below and the just average beat of a regular. His left hand was stitched and a canula was strapped onto his pale-dry skin that looked as if it had been through a whole lifetime.

'Alex...'

Dave thinks as a flashback of him, Oliver and Alex meeting up to go sledding in the winter cold on a hill just near his home.

Their smiles seemed be to be like the brightest things there at the time. Houses were in white, long icicles hang from where they could. People wore layers of sweater that could kill one in a heat stroke.

But these boys, who looked to be 10 or less years old.

Gathered all they had in them and snuck out to slay.

"Ahaha... that was a good time, wasn't it?"

Dave mumbled as he wiped a tear away from his left eye.

'God why? Why is this happening to my son?'

Mr. A thought as his eyes looked down with a glint of hollowness and fear in them.

'Did he... no. He couldn't... I taught him better than that right?'

'Yah... I did so why...'

He thought as his hands clenched together even tighter as veins slowly grew from the corners of his eyes and a stale hot feeling chocked at his throat.

A flashback echoed in his mind as we now see him and Alex in a store as they bought groceries together.

Alex was swaying left to right as his father sent to help pick out different items. The store was about 3000 square feet. So, he cautioned him to careful of where he went and how he moved as he might bump into some... very not nice people. Alex looked about 11 and full of energy that not even toddlers had.

At some point, Alex was sent by his father to go grab peanut butter as they headed towards the counter at the entrance to pay for the stuff they bought.

Alex nodded and dashed away as quickly as he had responded. Mr. a chuckled at it and thanked God for a son like him once more.

As dashed past by some the numerous isles in the store in search for the food isle.

"Ooof!"

He bumped into some as his attention had seemed to solely be on the signs that were hanged to label the different isles.

He apologized and stood up as he began to dash, but..

He was grabbed. Suddenly. Fiercely and pulled backwards with enough force to knock a shelf over.

The one who pulled him was a man in torn baggy clothes, stained all over his body, smelt like rotten... everyting and had a look of fury that could scare the heck out of child.

He grabbed Alex in both arms and mumble to him that ruined his perfect theft. But for all Alex could care he was terrified and even worse... disgusted. As the man's breath then caused him to become nauseous and immediately puke on the man.

The man didn't care as the people around the backed off as we then Alex's dad rush over.

He wanted to save Alex but was stopped as the man pulled out a brand-new knife that shone effortlessly under the store lights as he warned people to back away as held Alex tighter with his left hand.

He swayed left and right as he slowly backed towards the exit.

Bewildered by this... there were already sitted by a cop who was anxious enough to stay still behind the door and wait.

But why not just jump him and save Alex?

Well, the street guy had a knife in his that he looked like he had the ability to use swiftly so. So if he did he would end up killing the child.

So he stayed back and didn't let his shadow cast upon the street guy.

He backed and backed and Alex... well he was having the worst experience of his life. Well not really because of the fear, but because this man had so many bad smells on him that fainting fainting was a problem for little Alex who clenched his nose with his fingers as hard as he could.

Alex's father who flinched as he saw the police officer who was hiding on the left. And that's the door to which the man was facing to.

So, he took a breath in and out once the street hit the door on his left. Alex's father called out to him with a thunderous and sudden 'hey'.

His head and snapped towards him as paused as he his grip loosened on the boy for a slight second as he was repositioning himself.

But in that split second, the police man tackled him down and brought him to his knees as Alex fell over as he gasped for air far, far away from this man.

After that he was detained and Alex and his father went home after Alex's father went to grab the peanut butter that he needed and rushed to pay for everything.

And as for Alex... he learnt two things at his home that day. One, was to never let himself look at a street person with gentle or pitiful eyes ever again. And two, his father taught him to never joke about his studies because they would have a somewhat great effect to his future.

Alex nodded as he then spent the rest of his week puking at the smells of anything or or to hot. But...

His father was with him.

Mrs.A flashed back to that time when he named Bravo and so did Jena. Their faces were but mere masks of temperance that they wore so as to be strong... because if Alex were here...

Scrrrrr, TAT!

"Is he okay?!"

Wendy burst in with a mre horrified look on her face than anyone when this started.

Last time, she wasn't able to make ut Alex in the clinic because she got confused on a certain turn in the halls.

"A-Alex, what..."

Behind her followed Evelyn who whimpered as she called to Alex who lain sickly in the bed.

She wanted to reach out to Alex. To hold him and cry. For he wasn't just a study to him, but...

'Alex I-'

"Sorry to interrupt, but visiting hours are over for today everyone."

A conducted feminine voice interrupted as all the head in the room, the ones focused on Alex, the ones down and even the ones that were devoid of any emotion snapped in her directed.

The nurse flinched. Almost instinctively. Like as if she could detect the sheer rage that flickered in all their eyes for a second, but she calmed herself as soon as she had panicked and took a step back as her eyes closed, she bowed slightly and stretched her left hand towards the stairs as she said her voiced laced and a forced kindness, "Could please exit the patient's room."

For a moment, there was silence. No one moved. No one made a spund. And this...

'Hmmmm.'

This angered the nurse. Who slightly opened her eye to see if they were just... slowly getting up in a way that she couldn't here.

But... when she gazed upon.

"Kyah!"

She staggered mackerel with a shrill and quick scream as she them. All six people look in dead in the eyes. Their eyes. Glimmer with a kind of maliciousness like no other. But they didn't harm her they simply all took a step forward. Their gazes were fixed upon her like prey was to be hunted. Not for survival nor for cruelty, but...

"Ffff... ffff....ffff..."

But for punishment.

As they all lifted their gazes from the nurse, they took a step forward as they all turned away from the Alex's room.

But just as they did...

"He-hey g-guys~~~"

Step!

The unified footsteps of Alex's family and friends came to a halt. They turned their heads. Slowly and forcefully. Their bodies began to tremble. And their eyes shook as fiercely as they did.

"A-"

One of the six wanted to call out to Alex. To see if was true. To see if what they were going through was reality and not a brazen lie cooked by their head.

"Hap!"

Jena gasped as she covered her hands over her mouth.

And then...

Silence. A deep and unfathomable one at that. But it didn't last long.

Drip!

A tear fell.

"Sob."

And then a seemingly uncontrolled sob slipped into the deep, empty silence.

"Sob sob."

Drip!

Drip, drip, drip, drip!

"Ha~a~ah."

The sounds that now filled the seemingly bottomless atmosphere now filled it with a sorrow. A deep and horrendous one at that.

Step!

Alex's father took step forward as he reached his hands out towards his son.

He opened his mouth rather it shivered as he struggled to even speak, "Alex... it's me dad."

Step!

He took another as he headed back to the room. No one else except from him moved. No one else except from him thought of what they could do in that situation. But... for all Alex's father hoped... no knew.

It was that...

"Yah.... I can't hear yah loud clear big man."

His son was awake and back safe sound.
