Chapter 22 - chapter 22 - The Irony

The tall stone towers of the Royal Knight Headquarters stood firm. Inside the palace-like structure, in a luxurious cabin, the Chief of Staff, William Windsor, was seated behind his expensive mahogany desk. There was no fatigue of war on his face—only a personal concern.

William was deep in thought about his Mrs. Because of the emergency investigation into the "blackout" that occurred at Blackwood Palace the previous night, he had been late in taking his Mrs. out to dinner. Now she was upset, and William thought to himself:

"Should I buy her that diamond necklace, or would a trip be better? Understanding women is harder than understanding a Paragon."

Just then, a heavy knock echoed at the door, breaking his thoughts.

"Yes?" William said, pulling his voice back into a professional and strict tone.

The heavy cabin door opened, and Alexander Stuart walked in. In his hands was a thick leather file—the Incident Report the entire Empire had been waiting for.

"Chief William," Alexander said seriously. "I've brought the complete report of the incident that happened three days ago."

A spark appeared in William's eyes. He set aside his personal worries.

"Alexander! Finally. I've been waiting for this. You know how much pressure there is from the Senator Council."

Alexander stepped forward and placed the file in front of William.

"Chief, I want you to read this immediately and sign it. Only after that can I forward it to the Senator Council and the King."

William began reading the file. His eyes went to the date written on it—17 April 514. He turned the page and stopped at Roshan's profile. The report confirmed the bitter truth Narco had already sensed: it was now officially proven that Roshan was a member of the Order Eye Group.

Four days before the attack, Roshan had been wandering inside their main headquarters in the Aravali hills, lost in his own thoughts—thoughts that made him feel that no god was greater than the Eye of Justice, without realizing that these very thoughts would become the cause of his end. At that very moment, inside that "labyrinth," he found a path that perhaps had never been seen before.

The report clearly stated that this path was so secret and magically protected that even High-Level Paragons of the Empire failed to detect it using their Divination abilities.

William continued reading, and the next details were shocking. According to the report, the Aurum level around Blackwood Palace was recorded at 400% higher than normal. Experts from the Church of Void Moon claimed that the presence of an "evil Entity" had been sensed there—something that did not belong to this world.

William now saw the entire picture clearly, and it was nothing short of a nightmare. When he read the mention of Archbishop Frederick Sinclair of the Church of Knowledge and Light, surprise spread across his face.

According to the report, when Archbishop Frederick used his Divine Sight to peer into the domain of Blackwood Palace, he did not see what he intended to. Instead, through Roshan, he came into direct contact with The Giant Black Eye. Roshan's fate had become so deeply intertwined with that ancient existence that anyone who tried to "see" him would immediately come under the gaze of that Black Eye. The moment Archbishop Frederick attempted to look at Roshan, he instead saw the Child Black Eye, and merely witnessing it made him feel something indescribable. William was shocked to read that even a high-level Paragon like Frederick barely survived the mental assault of the Giant Black Eye. This was the reason High-Level Paragons had remained blind to this matter for so long.

William read the next section with great interest. The report stated that on that night, an Aurum Eater Fox was summoned from the Underworld to stop Roshan, who had turned into an uncontrollable monster. After Roshan's elimination, a Hallowed item containing eight Rudraksha beads was recovered from the scene. However, there was no concrete information regarding the powers of this item or its original owner, though it was suspected to be related to the Giant Black Eye.

William let out a long, cold breath. He knew that an object with eight Rudraksha beads could not be ordinary, yet the report contained nothing further about it. He picked up his pen and placed his signature on the final page of the file.

Closing the file, William said, "Alexander, take this immediately to the Royal Family and the Senator Council." Alexander turned and swiftly exited the cabin with the file in hand.

Fate… sometimes grants life in the form of failure. Jona and Den were completely unaware of what they had truly faced that night. Roshan was merely a pawn. The Giant Black Eye had not only corrupted him but had also handed him the eight-Rudraksha Hallowed so that he could become the center of destruction. The consignment placed upon Roshan was a trap—a trap that dragged any consciousness attempting Divination directly before that ancient demonic entity.

When Den began the Mirror Divination ritual, he was playing with fire. Den's spell was a High-Level Ritual capable of tearing through layers of time to reveal the truth. Despite being such a high-sequence ritual, Den had managed to perform it, which in itself was commendable. But if Den had been attempting it alone at that moment, the Giant Black Eye would have descended directly through the mirror. After that, their end would have been certain—they would either have gone mad or their souls would have dissolved forever into the Void.

However, at that exact time, dozens of Paragons at the Royal Knight Headquarters were also probing the truth of that same night with all their power. Because of this, the Giant Black Eye's strength was divided. It was too busy resisting so many simultaneous Divination attempts to strike Den and Jona directly. Instead, it merely shattered the mirror, severing their connection.

Jona paced in anger, believing his plan had failed. But the truth was that every crack in that shattered mirror was a blessing for his long life. They had knocked on death's door and returned—without even realizing it. Had that Divination been fully successful, they would have ended up like Frederick… or worse.
