Glossary[Spoilers]

Hello, I thought it'd be better to have a place where as you read, you can come back to refresh your mind regarding certain topics.

So here it is.

I'll be updating it as the story advances and depending on what people have a tendency to forget or be confused about.

I also won't go into extreme details about things, since they'll be regularly repeated in the story.

[Path of Ascendance—The Steps]

•As Enoch said at the end of Volume One, the steps of Ascendance lead to Godhood, where true Ascendance begins.

•But for now, we'll focus on the steps themselves.

[The First Step of Ascendance—Mortal Realms]

•From the G-Rank, the lowest rank, all the way up to the Ex-Rank, the highest Rank of the first step.

>As said, the essence of the first step is evolution and the sublimation of your Spark.

>Each Rank has four steps of development; Initial Assimilation, Branching Root, Purifying Replacement, Ascent

[Like I said, this'll be really simplified so if you want to have the nuances of each step and their deviants, you'll have to read the story.]

•Initial Assimilation: Here, you essentially set the path of your evolution within the rank by choosing what is called an Initial Subject, which will trigger your Major Evolution.

>What is an Initial Subject? It really is just the thing your evolution is modeled after and the source of your power within that rank.

•Let's say you choose a Fire Dragon as your Initial Subject in the G-Rank, then, all the abilities you'll gain will be from the fire dragon and whatnot.

•Your Major Evolution will also be rooted in the Fire Dragon. It is that simple.

•You choose a subject—beast, sword, a type of energy, and whatever—then you assimilate it, which causes the Major Evolution.

>The more unconventional your subject is, the more resources you need to assimilate the subject and the more complex the method needs to be.

>In the sense that, if you are assimilating a fire lizard, the resources are most likely going to be common, while the method, too, will be common, but if you decided to assimilate a Diamond-Grade Sword, not only will the resources needed be ridiculously rare, but the method of assimilation is going to be nearly impossible to find.

>That is why Specialisers are so rare, because assimilating anything that isn't 'common' requires a ridiculous amount of resources, skill, and sadly, talent.

•You chose what to base your evolution off of, and use resources and a technique to cause a major evolution.

•Major Evolutions give you special abilities and talents but to have the specifics, you'll have to read the story!

•Branching Root: After your Major Evolution, you enter this stage, and its essence is the unveiling of potential.

•The entire goal here, is to trigger Minor Evolutions to excavate the potential of the Initial Subject using Branch Subjects.

•Branch Subjects are simply creatures/things born from the branches of the Initial Subject.

•So, for example, if you evolved using a Fire Dragon, your Branch Subjects may vary from Drakes, to Wyverns, to lizards, and much more.

•Another example is if you used a Diamond-Grade Earth Element Sword for your Major evolution, your branches may be Gold-Grade Sand, Wood, Magma Swords and much more.

>Hopefully that paints the picture.

•How do Minor Evolutions relate to the unveiling of an Initial Subject's potential and what boons do Minor Evolutions grant? You'll have to read the story to find out.

•Purifying Replacement: Here, after you've carried out all your Minor Evolutions and your Minor Evolutions, you have to refine your core.

•Why? To fully merge your Lineal Line with the Lineal Lines of your subjects. Doing so refines your aether, but also enhances the might of your talents.

•The only way to do so is by using a Purifying Core Method.

•To know more about the specifics of these methods and how they fuse Lineal Lines, read the story, lmao.

•Ascent: Now, by this point, there isn't much else to do.

>All you can do is compress your core to its limit, and breakthrough to the next rank but the issue is that doing so requires a lot of resources.

>It requires resources but it also needs you to use your Weave(read the story to know what that is) to compress your core.

>There are many ways to go about doing this, but the easiest and most well known is the Evolution Quest.

•It isn't needed to breakthrough but by completing it, not only do you receive the ascent materials needed, but the system also manually uses your Weave for you and compresses your core.

•What would be the benefits of learning to use your weave yourself? Who knows.

•You could, potentially, read the story and find out.

>So, these are the four steps you need to go through at every Rank, until you reach the peak of the first step.

>Beyond the first step, there is the second, but for now, this'll be enough. I'll update this when we eventually get there.

>Let me know if you have any additional questions you'd like to have answered in the comments and I'll answer.
