Chapter 2 - Class II

Leon looked at the orb and gulped.

I wonder what my class will be? he thought.

One thing was certain—the awakened class was linked to one's lineage.

There was more than a ninety percent chance that a person would awaken a class similar to their parents', or at least a hybrid of the two.

As he waited, Leon also began to wonder where his cheat would be. From all the books he had read, it would most likely appear when he awakened his class.

He took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.

"Be ready. You're ranked first in the class, so you'll be going first," Sydney said.

Leon nodded.

He continued to stare at the orb when he felt a hand rest on his shoulder. It was his teacher, Sydney.

"Don't worry. Even if you awaken a non-combat class, as long as you work hard, you can still become strong," she said.

Leon nodded again.

After all, there was no rule stating that a non-combat class couldn't learn combat skills.

As long as the learning requirements were met, anyone could learn a skill.

The difference was that combat classes came with inherent perks. They dealt more damage and performed better when using skills related to their class.

For example, if Teacher Sydney and another teacher of the same rank both used the skill Flame Sword, Sydney's attack would deal far more damage because she possessed a combat class, unlike the other teacher.

Leon shook his head and simply waited calmly.

Sydney watched him, nodded approvingly, and stepped to the side, standing there calmly.

Soon, the Awakening Orb was ready again. The headmaster himself stood near the pedestal for the awakening. He glanced at the list and spoke clearly.

"Leon Arkwright."

Leon took a deep breath and walked toward the stage.

"Just place both of your hands on the orb," the headmaster said.

Leon nodded and placed both hands on the orb.

It was slightly cold to the touch.

Suddenly, dense energy flowed into his body. Leon felt it surge through his right hand, then a strange sensation followed from his left. His entire body trembled briefly as the mana settled.

A familiar voice echoed in his mind.

[Congratulations! System awakened.]

[Status is now ready to be viewed.]

"Okay, done," the headmaster said as the nebula within the orb returned to its calm state.

Leon walked off the stage and stood to the side. Taking a deep breath, he opened his status screen.

The fuck?!

Leon looked absolutely stunned as he realized he had awakened two classes, even though the universal rule stated that a person could only have one class.

"Why do I have two classes?" Leon wondered as he looked more closely at his status screen.

It didn't take long for him to find the reason.

It was because of his title, specifically the skill under it—Double Limit.

"Damn… this is good," Leon smiled.

Next, he looked at his talent.

SSS-rank talent—the highest rank. One in a million… and fuck, it's overpowered.

Leon gulped again as he read through it.

This is god-tier.

He smiled faintly just as someone approached him.

"Did you awaken a combat class?" a gentle voice asked.

Leon turned and saw his teacher, Sydney. He shook his head.

"No. I awakened a double craftsman class—a hybrid of Tailor and Blacksmith," he said.

She sighed softly. "It's okay."

She patted his shoulder, pity flashing in her eyes.

What a cruel world, she thought as she looked at him.

He worked harder than anyone, yet he didn't awaken a combat class.

She shook her head inwardly, watching Leon smile calmly.

She thought it was just a façade.

Inside… he must be very sad. Maybe even crying.

Leon, on the other hand, was staring at his class skills.

I even got double the skills on awakening, he realized, a smile forming on his face.

Each of his classes had awakened twice the number of skills a normal beginner would receive. Usually, one class only awakened three skills during activation.

Yet he had six skills from the very start.

Double Limit really is insane, Leon thought, his smile deepening.
