The word felt absurd.
Lucian's brow creased. He had never considered himself useless in his entire life. He was a titan of industry. But as he stood there, remembering how his wife limped away from him in agony, he had to wonder: Was he useless to her? He had power, money, and influence, yet he couldn't even give her a "morning kiss" without making her sick.
