Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Breached

During those two days he planned to make as many preparations for the spider nest as possible.

He started forging the moment he came back. He drew blue prints on the ground allowing those assisting him to study them.

His assistances couldn't understand a thing but they were able to follow orders. Together they built different pieces.

By the end of the day, the had made enough pieces to build over 70 guns. These weren't low calibre guns he was making.

He skipped the first crude models created by humans and went to the more advanced ones.

Of course not the most advanced as those would be plasma guns, he planned that for later.

He still lacked the blueprints for them as they were still locked in his mind. He taught them how to assemble the guns.

Then he started forging the bullets, he made tens of thousands of armour piercing bullets. He could've used brass since the second layer, the metal layer as they called it did have a lot of copper and zinc.

However there was no time, while steel bullets were stronger they weren't reloadable and can potentially cause more wear to the gun.

Plus the difference between the damage they cause won't matter much against their enemies, if they work, they're good.

What matters to him is that the guns last longer so after this fight, he was going to make brass.

However these bullets were still useless, not without the cartridge. He called Lucy to help him.

Together they started creating gun powder. They grinded the three ingredients to fine powder with the help of others.

On the side he started grinding another material. When they were done, he and Lucy started the mixing process.

She really was a fast learner, he only told her the mixing ratio once and she was able to get it perfectly every single time.

During the mixing process he added a bit of red powder. This was powdered fire attribute mana stones.

It purpose was to enhance the explosive power to made the bullets stronger. Of course this did mean the guns would be more likely to break if they can't handle it.

However that was something he planned to deal with later, for now he just wanted weapons to deal with the spiders.

After mixing they let the powder dry, during that time he went back to the subterranean world.

Viona accompanied him this time. After checking the door he realised they didn't have much time.

He could use more divine energy to create another door but that would be such a major waste.

He went back up, unfortunately he couldn't use fire to dry the gunpowder faster so he was forced to wait.

During that time he and Sam were creating the bullet casings. It wasn't a hard job, especially for awakened warriors like themselves.

Then he taught them how to make the complete bullets with their casings. He had dried the powder in separate batches.

A few of the smaller batches had dried up already so they started making the bullets. Then they loaded the guns.

It was time to test his creation. He pointed the gun at the wall and fired. A streak of red shot out with a loud bang.

Everybody closed their ears from the deafening boom. To be honest the gun wasn't too loud but they were caught off guard.

He checked the damage and realised he had underestimated the power of his guns. Or rather the gunpowder.

The bullet was not only faster but delivered significantly more damage than the equivalent gun from that tiny planet.

He looked at the gun in his hand which looked like an AK 47 rifle to check for damage but there was none.

Even though his gunpowder was mixed with fire attribute mana stones powder to enhance it explosive might, the metal in this world were stronger than Earth's counterpart due to mana.

So the gun was able to handle. Still he wondered why those humans named that world Earth.

Naming a planet after an element seemed strange to him, that like naming a planet wind.

He turned his attention back to the pressing matter, the power of the bullet was more than he had ever expected.

By his estimate the bullet had as much damage output as a 3 node initiate or squire. It only weakness was that it damage output was concentrated.

Beasts and monsters tended to be large, unless you hit the heart or brain, you would need more bullets to take them down.

He was fine with that. After testing the power of the bullet he led a group of combat warriors to the subterranean world for target practice.

Unfortunately there wasn't much time to find and use living target but as long as they learnt how to shoot, it was fine.

They were one node squires, they had better eyesight and accuracy than normal humans by default.

Since not everybody was cut out to be a fighter, he only had 29 combatants. Of the 27 women.

Only 14 including Viona chose to be combatants. Lucy was not included in them, alongside another mage that had wood attributes.

Of the 16 men, only Sam who became a Smith chose to not be a fighter. However he understood why so few women chose to not fight.

Most of them became warriors which meant they had to fight in the front lines. Being born physically weaker made that a less ideal choice for them but it wasn't enough to stop them.

It was mostly because of the attributes they got. Unlike men who were more stubborn and hot headed thus awakening either the earth or fire attributes.

Women had a much gentler disposition so they were more likely to awaken water or the more rare wood attributes.

Water was not very suitable for battle, especially for warriors. Only it sub element ice was suited for battle.

So he wasn't disappointed when those women chose to stay behind and take other tasks.

So they were tasks with making clay pots, spoons and bowls, cooking and most of the things that don't require fighters.

Which wasn't a lot for now since they didn't have much. So those women mostly had free time since the mining was left to the combatants as well.

While they were doing target practice, somebody came running behind them. " Sir Khali, the door is about to be breached."
