It happened three nights later.
Selene had been dreaming. Another nightmare. Fire and blood and Isolde's screams. But this time, it was worse. More vivid. More real.
She could feel the heat. Smell the smoke. Hear her sister calling for her.
"Selly! Help me! Please!"
And in the dream, Selene was running toward her. Trying to reach her. Trying to save her this time.
But soldiers blocked her path. Wearing the Alpha King's colors. Faceless. Threatening.
And behind them stood a figure. Tall. Commanding. Watching the massacre with cold eyes.
In the dream, the figure turned. And Selene saw his face.
Damian.
Except it wasn't Damian. The features were wrong. Older. Harsher. Someone else wearing the crown.
Lord Aldric? Her father? Someone she'd never seen before?
The figure smiled. Cruel. Triumphant. And spoke words Selene couldn't hear but felt in her bones.
"You're mine. You've always been mine. And you'll destroy him for me."
Selene woke up screaming.
