Chapter 19 - Sister's Ability

As I was leaving the Ministry building from the side door, I noticed that a crowd was standing outside the main entrance of the building.

The flashes and cameras clued me in that those were most likely reporters and they were probably trying to see if they could get a picture of the new Mortal God or something.

Sucks for them since I'm pretty sure they won't get what they want.

I snuck away from the area and I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket, prompting me to fish it out to check what it was notifying me about.

It was a text from my sister and I rolled my eyes when I saw the message.

'Goooor~ Pick me up lehhhh. I finishing up with my game soon.'

I left her on read and searched up the route I needed to take to get to the basketball court I knew she would be playing at right now.

It took me ten minutes to get there and I found her easily enough since she was still in the middle of a game.

Why it was easy to find her was the fact that there's five of her currently in the court playing against another team of five girls.

I watched as she passed the ball amongst herself, taking advantage of her opponents' blind spots before she shoots at the hoop.

The ball arched into the air and slammed through the ring, scoring two points for her.

The other team of girls groaned and I guess that was the match point since they stopped the match right after that ball.

My sister then went up to the other girls and gave them all high fives before heading to the bench to collect her things, only to stop when she saw me on the other side of the fence.

Her face lit up and four of her clones ran out of the basketball court to head towards me while the last one stayed behind to collect her stuff.

"Yayyy~ Gor Gor! You came to pick me up!" She squealed, hugging me with all four of her duplicates.

Yes, this was her awakened ability which I felt was seriously overpowered.

She can split herself to create multiple clones who can function independently and anything they experience and learn will be shared with her which sort of functions like a hivemind.

The only downside is that everything the clones experienced will be shared so if they hurt themselves, everyone will also get hurt. Which means if one of her dies, then all of her dies too.

That's why she usually doesn't walk around with multiple clones and only does it to cheat, like having them study multiple subjects at once or play team sports by herself.

I grimaced, "Why do you have to hug me now… You're all still sweaty…"

The one that was hugging me from the front pulled back to smirk at me, "Aren't you happy to have so many pretty girls hugging you at the same time, Gor Gor?"

"Not when it's you. Get off me, you stink. Eww… Now my clothes are wet with your sweat too."

Just to rub it in my face, she pulled the top part of my shirt to use it as a towel to wipe her face, leaving trails of sweat on the cloth before I managed to pull it back from her.

I was just about to flick her on the forehead before she stuck her tongue out at me and disappeared alongside all the others that had surrounded me.

Looking back inside the court, my sister was waving at her friends goodbye before she skipped out of the court, acting like nothing happened while smiling at me.

I narrowed my eyes at her before letting out a sigh and reaching my palm forward.

She slipped the strap of her sports bag on top of my palm unceremoniously and I hefted the bag onto my shoulder, barely even feeling the weight.

She then wrapped her arm around mine and turned to wave her hand at her friends one last time before we started walking to the bus stop to head home.

"So… You like any of them? They're all still single~" My sister giggled cheekily while wiggling her eyebrows.

"I wasn't paying attention to them."

"Oh come on. Don't need to be shy! If you like any of them, I can intro you! They like older guys!"

"You make it sound like I'm some perverted old uncle stalking young girls."

"Are you not?"

I drilled her head with my knuckle, causing her to let out a cry of pain.

"Ow ow ow!! Ok! Ok! I give up I give up!!"

I let her go, ignoring the pout she was giving me as I looked out for the bus that would take us home.

Realising that her pout wasn't working, my sister finally gave up.

"So what you doing at that MAM place again? Are you in trouble?" She asked.

I thought about it for a moment before I decided I might as well tell her since things were going to change pretty soon anyway.

"You heard about the new Mortal God?"

She gasped, "Ah! Yes yes!! I saw the livestream just now! The guy wearing the mask, right? That means our country has a Mortal God now?"

I nodded, "That's right… And you know about Guardians, right?"

"Ehhh?!! Gor Gor is becoming a Guardian?!"

"They are currently in the selection process for Guardians and I'm basically waiting for the final confirmation right now. But there's a high chance that I would pass."

"Ahhhh!! My Gor Gor is the coolest!! So cool! Eh? Wait a minute… Isn't the Mortal God a guy?"

I raised an eyebrow at her, "I believe he is. Why?"

"Don't they say that the Guardians of the Mortal God also serve as their harem? Gasp! Gor Gor… Are you gay?"

I turned to pull at her cheeks with my thumb and index finger.

"Ahhhh!! Ow ow ow!!! I'm kidding, I'm kidding!!"

I released her cheek and acted like I didn't just do that, "Anyway… There's a high chance that I might be selected so I might actually have to move out."

She looked up at me, "Eh?! Move out? Where are you going?"

"I heard that they intend for the Guardians to remain close to the Mortal God as much as possible so I guess they want the Guardians to be staying with him as well."

"Ehhh… Then that means you're moving out from our house?"

"I guess… Maybe not permanently but just like a long distance work arrangement where I come back and visit during the holidays or something."

"I douwaaaann…" She whined, hugging my arm even tighter. "If you have to move out, just don't go, Gor Gor!"

"They pay really well though. I heard that they would give me a big bonus and we might even afford a bigger house."

"Bleh, what's the point of a bigger house if you aren't there anyway? It's just going to be dad, mom and me anyway."

"I'll also have more money to buy more pudding for you though."

She looked up to pout at me.

Hmm? I was sure that this piece of news would excite her but yet she didn't seem happy? I thought she really liked pudding.

"Gor Gor… Sometimes you are really dumb, you know?"

"Is this because I chose not to go to university and became a Vanguard instead?"

She sighed and shook her head, "It's fine. But if you get chosen as a Guardian, it means you will spend less time with us, won't you?"

"I'm afraid that might be the case."

She pursed her lips before she suddenly gasped, "Oh!! I know! If I start working there, then I can see you there as well even if you don't come back home that often, right?!"

I immediately spun to narrow my eyes at her, "You're not thinking of becoming a Vanguard are you? You know what Mom said about this when you tried to suggest it. And I know this is hypocritical of me, but I agree with her especially when your abilities put you in much more danger than normal."

She went back to pouting at me.

"I'm telling mom."

I stared at her, "You better not. This hasn't been confirmed yet. It would just needlessly worry mom if it turns out that I wasn't accepted as a Guardian."

She pointed even harder at me and looked away before muttering, "Pudding…"

"What?"

"I said pudding."

I sighed, "Alright, alright… I'll get you a pudding on the way back."

"Ten."

"What?"

"I want ten puddings at least! Ten!!"

This greedy sister of mine… Didn't I already restock the fridge with more puddings then other day? If we go back with even more, mom is definitely going to make a lot of noise…

Unless… She intends to eat all of them on the way back?

"Alright, alright. Consider them my bribe to keep you quiet, ok?"

"Yayyy!! I love you, Gor Gor!!"

First she was upset and pouting at me, now she's hugging me and not letting go.

I really don't understand how girls think…
