With lunch over and the kitchen cleaned and packed back up, Lana turned back to Blaine, "are you tired of me yet?"
He chuckled, "actually after all that food, I'm hoping you have some form of exercise for me!"
She grinned, "well, you can lift those boxes over there into the other room there or use telekinesis." She pointed to the room she created to use as a lab.
He laughed and used telekinesis. Soon all the equipment she was lent by her teacher was in her lab but she still questioned what layout would be best. The room was the same size as her bedroom so she had to be efficient.
Soon she felt Kyle's presence again. "You look confused at how to arrange things. Care to allow me to do something?"
She nodded, "please."
Soon, three walls were covered in light-weight metal cabinets and counters. He also put a workbench in the middle of the room with a counter top thin enough to clamp tools to. She now had storage and was able to move around as long as it was only her in there.
She looked around with her jaw dropped. "I agree, you're brilliant."
He chuckled, "shall we unpack the boxes so you can work? I don't think it will be today, but you could start tomorrow?"
She smiled and the two got to work. She made a mental list of the documentation things she may need though using her tablet would be best.
"Once we get this done, I'd like to bring the kitchen back to Paul. The kitchen itself seems perfect but I'd like changes to the bag. I can't have to empty it out to get the kitchen out."
"Of course, Blaine will help with that. I'm curious about what you plan to do in this room. Do you need a lab assistant or will one an extra person get in the way?"
"Lab assistant, I don't know. I have not thought about it. I want to do a few things. One of the things Paul is going to help with is taste-testing. I want to compare my food to the food served, say in the dining facility."
Klye started laughing.
She rolled her eyes, "I mean in using the exact same recipe but their ingredients versus mine. At the same time, I want to compare nutrient content in those same ingredients. Is this something that interests you?"
"Wait, are you trying to see if the food you grow is better in quality and flavor?"
She nodded.
"Then yes, I'm interested. I'm curious about that, myself."
"That means this can be our time to get to know one another?"
Kyle smiled and nodded. "Though Blaine did tell me that he still needs to investigate who's bullying Alto. He won't be able to go all the way to the major but he's hoping to reduce the pressure on Alto until he can get more books to learn more advanced techniques."
Lana nodded, "I want him to work for it so I thought the proceeds of any beast crystals for this next outing can buy him and Almin new books."
"We could…"
"No. They need to contribute toward it. I was okay with it for Dobin because he's the same as me and may end up on that radar. If he focuses and only uses the earth ability openly, he should be okay. It's too late for me. I think I'll end up on it. One is bullying. The other is outright disappearing."
Kyle nodded, "let's go take the kitchen back then order some dinner. Can we sit next to you on your bed while we watch the movie tonight?"
Lana chuckled, "sure."
Outside the lab, Kyle picked her up bridal-style and jumped. They floated to the ground.
Lana chuckled, "you know the tree can get me down as well."
Kyle nodded, "but this is more fun."
Lana smiled, "I've never known anyone who wanted to spend so much with me with me before. Is there something you want from me?"
Kyle smiled broadly, "to see that incredible smile. I can't get enough of it. I actually get upset with Blaine if he doesn't get you to smile. It's intoxicating."
Lana laughed, "wow…"
"Well, it's true. I need to give Blaine back," and he switched.
Lana picked up the bag with the kitchen and they headed back to Paul's room. She let them in again then waited by his desk until he could acknowledge them.
"What changes do you need?"
"Well, to the bag actually. I'd like three separate compartments. The bottom could be where seasonings go but I'd like individual dividers that can fold down so I can store some clothes in there as well so I only need to carry one bag. The middle can be the kitchen itself and the top be cold or hot food storage. As an example. You can change the order of the pockets but having to empty one to get to the kitchen doesn't seem safe in the field."
Paul nodded, "sounds easy enough. I should be able to get it back to you in the morning. I'll let you know when it's done."
Lana nodded, "I'm going to go cook you something for dinner."
"Wait, me? Are you not cooking for yourself?"
"Blaine is treating us all to dinner tonight, ordering in. I don't mind making you a nice fresh meal. I have food to cook for you. I can feed you before our food even arrives. I'll be back soon."
Lana refused to hear anything else and turned on her heels and walked out with Blaine following, offering Paul a sympathetic smile.
In her room, she cooked while Blaine got everyone's orders. This time she gave Paul a bigger meal to ensure he got full with all the work he'd done for her in the past few days.
Blaine asked what she wanted and she told him to surprise her. He decided to see how she would do with a gourmet eggplant parmesan. He got everyone that same chocolate dessert as before but this time he ordered something else as well. When the food was delivered, he took out Dobin and Alto's food and ran it upstairs with Almin's help. This way there was no need to knock. They could put the food on their desks and get back out without causing a disturbance.
When they returned, Blaine passed out everyone's food, including dessert. Lana went to look at what he got her but he slapped her hand softly.
"This is a desert but it's super expensive so I got one for us to share. I wanted us to eat this before the main course if that's okay?"
She hesitated but only a second. "Okay."
"Okay, close your eyes and open up."
She followed his instructions and Kattie and Almin both watched in awe at her level of trust in him. School had only been in session for 5 weeks so far. At the same time, they did see each other every day.
Blaine put a bite on a fork and carefully put it in her mouth. She closed her mouth round the fork and took the bite as her taste buds came alive with a chocolate flavor she had never experienced before. A soft moan escaped her as she released the fork. She kept her eyes closed as she chewed. This wasn't just a treat. It was an experience. She heard Blaine get himself a bite then she heard the fork scrape the container once again and she opened her mouth again like a baby bird waiting for the amazing morsel its parent was providing. It continued that way until she head "last bite" in a soft, tender tone.
She opened her eyes and looked at him as he chewed his last bite. "That was amazing. Why are you so good to me?"
He chuckled then pointed to the side of his forehead. He was blaming it on Kyle. She wondered how much of what he did was him wanting to and how much of it was Kyle telling him to.
"Do you have a movie in mind?" Kattie broke her away from her thoughts.
"I do actually. Just give me a second here." Her shoes were off and she motioned for Blaine to do the same. She pulled back her new blanket that upset him so and scooched over so he could sit on the outside. She grabbed her tablet and typed in a specific title and it showed up on the screen
"I don't think I've seen this one," she heard Almin and Kattie say.
"Most of my viewing has been through free sources so everything I have watched is very old. This movie is amazing! Take note toward the end. We need to eventually have this level of teamwork."
"Wait, did you just give us homework?" Kattie asked,
Lana laughed. "Just watch."
She hit the play button then covered her legs. Blaine handed her salad to her and she asked for her dessert as well. She ate that before her meal as well.
Her chocolate cake was gone before the female lead found out the man she was told to kill was her husband. She was deep into her salad as the couple shot up their house thinking they had to kill each other or they were would be killed. She was getting sleepy as the couple were being chased on the freeway. She was driving and her husband was dealing with those trying to kill them. He was failing so she flipped the car around to face the other way and took out their enemies herself. As the movie ended with the couple talking to their counselor about how wonderful things were now. Lana was fast asleep against Blaine's shoulder.
