Chapter 2 - 2: Blessing & Magic

'Why am I here?'

Two days after the birth of Darkmoon, Simon asked himself this question once again.

From the moment he was born in the Demon Realm, he was confused at first, but when he saw the two women who were with him, he was shocked because he knew they were demons.

So many questions appeared in his mind as to why he was alive and in the midst of two female one-horned demons.

Because of his experience and knowledge of demons, he knew that one-horned demons were not a threat to him in the slightest.

He tried to speak, get up, and deal with the demons despite not understanding what was going on. He fully believed that he was given a second chance to live and find out why his once close friends and lover decided to betray him, but when he heard the sound that came out of his mouth and felt the difficulty he had in moving.

He realized that he was a baby.

And to his horror, he realized that he had been born as a demon baby.

He vehemently refused to believe that he had been reborn as a demon baby to the point that while he was shaking his head and saying.

"No. No. No. No. This cannot be true."

He was actually crying in the real world.

And even now, despite two days having gone by after his birth, he still could not believe it.

He was the Hero of Earth. The man who fought and killed thousands if not tens of thousands of demons. The man who killed the King of Demons. The man whose very presence brought fear into the hearts of the strongest demons.

But now?

He was reborn as a demon?

The irony of it all. If he was not a baby, he would have been laughing out loud while crying like he was mad.

Unfortunately, he could not.

All he could do was stare at the ceiling of this structure that was meant to be called a home, and then wait for his mother to breastfeed him.

If he had been told by the gods he'll suck from the breasts of a demon, he would not have believed such a thing till the day he died.

At first, he refused to suck from his mother's breasts due to how he viewed Demons. But when he thought about how he was literally killing himself after getting a second chance, he relented.

Also, there was no way he could hold his hunger as a baby. Even when he didn't want to, his body cried when he was a baby.

Simon sighed as he recalled himself drinking from his mother's breast, his mother cleaning him up after he soiled himself, and his mother also bathing him.

As a hero, he had lived for over sixty years, and to be treated in such a manner was extremely embarrassing for him.

'Sigh... Why am I here? And how did I get here? And couldn't I have been given a second chance as a human? Why a demon?'

Simon had the urge to sigh out loud, but he stopped himself from doing so since he knew the sound he'd be making as a baby.

He forced himself to turn the side, and he saw his mother's sleeping face as one arm was placed over his body.

They were not sleeping on a proper bed or a makeshift bed, but on the bare floor. For the past two days, he had seen the state he and his mother were living in, and it was absolutely terrible.

They barely had anything in their house, and if he was right, his mother was even finding it difficult to eat. Even the clothes she wore were made out of poorly made old beast skin, and they barely covered her private parts.

'Just great. I'm given a second chance against life, but in a dirt poor family. Sigh. Did I use up all my luck in my past life.'

A light of reminiscence flashed in his eyes for a second, but then he pushed down those memories since he knew he had to focus on the present.

'Since I don't know why I'm here and how I get here, I'll have to focus on my current problems.'

'I can do nothing as a baby right now, but I should have a plan for the near future.'

'So, the first-'

Simon found his eyes closing and he yawned. He was sleepy, and despite his attempt to stay awake, it was all for naught.

'This body can't even stay awake for an hour. I just woke up not too long ago damn it.'

Simon's eyes closed, and then he went to sleep with his mother beside him.

Six months passed, and Simon waved at his mother who was at the door with a smile.

"I'm going, Blackmoon. I won't be long."

Simon's baby lips twitched when he heard his name, but he didn't stop waving.

Lyssa waved with a bright smile, and then she walked out of the house and closed the door.

'I hate that name. Of all the names you could think of, why did you have to give me that name.'

Simon shook his head, and then he sat in a cross-legged position.

After six months of patiently waiting to grow and have better mobility and control of his body, he was finally ready to start the first phase of his plan.

Getting stronger.

Although this sounded easy on paper, it was anything but easy because he had very limited knowledge on the way demons grew stronger.

When it came to power, demons and humans were extremely different.

Demons wielded chaos, or in simpler terms... Magic.

A demon could use magic like fire magic, shadow magic, dark magic, space magic, and the likes.

Meanwhile, a human gained power through Blessings.

These Blessings were gotten from gods who chose to help humans fight against demons, and as a hero in his past life, Simon definitely had a Blessing.
