Chapter 32 - 32 | New Banners & Assured Pull

[Aiden's POV]

[The new permanent banner is Miscellaneous Banner.]

[Would you like to perform the first gacha pull under this banner?]

"Well yes...but first tell me the description of the banner," I stated, excited yet confused by the name.

[Under this banner, you can get rewards from all other existing banners. However, the rank of rewards is capped at SSS-rank.]

"So it's like a hodgepodge of all the present banners, with the highest rank of the reward being SSS-Rank," I reiterated my understanding and started thinking about its best possible use.

At the same time, something clicked in my mind. "I only used free pull once and missed most of them. So can I, like, fix it so that you use the daily free pull under the Miscellaneous Banner even if I don't mention it?" I asked to confirm my thoughts.

[Yes, you can host. I also should mention that because this banner is made from an existing banner, you can't obtain the first pull bonus from it.]

"Okay, no problem. I was a little excited about the new banner; though not overwhelming, it is a useful one. Use today's free pull under this banner," I remarked.

[Automating the use of free pull under this banner.]

[Commencing today's free pull...]

The process didn't take long this time, and I got the minimum S-rank blue card. Although this wasn't a new banner, its exciting part was that you don't have a clue related to the reward. Only 4 banners, which are pretty vague in themselves.

Immediately, I opened the reward. The card shredded itself, and the panel appeared.

[Banner: Skills & Techniques]

[Name: Aetherdrive Pattern]

[Rank: S]

[Type: Movement Technique]

[Description: It is a movement technique that converts mana into precisely timed propulsion pulses throughout the user's lower body and core.]

[Key Effects:]

1. Step-Triggered Acceleration: Every step triggers a mana burst, allowing instant speed changes without preparation.

2. Momentum Control: You can stop, turn, or reverse direction abruptly without destabilizing your body.

3. Terrain adaptation: Mana reinforcement adapts to ground conditions, maintaining grip on unstable or uneven surfaces.

4. Combat Integration: Designed for prolonged engagements and to be used seamlessly during attacks, dodges, and repositioning; mana consumption remains efficient as long as timing is maintained.

[Note: Requires high mana control; broken rhythm reduces effectiveness.

Prolonged use can strain muscles and mana channels, forcing a cooldown period.]

– – –

A smile bloomed on my face as I read the panel, "It's perfect for me, at least for some time. This may be more useful than I initially imagined." I stated my happiness at getting such a technique.

[Would you like to learn the movement technique?]

"Yes, please."

The next moment, all the knowledge about the technique integrated seamlessly into my brain. From the mana requirement to the precise timing, it was like I had practiced this technique for a few years.

Now I won't have to rely just on the raw speed. With all this finished, I started to recount my gains and weaknesses I noticed during the dungeon run.

The most prominent thing glaring at me directly was that I totally lacked long-distance damage or fighting capabilities.

This time the boss monster was enraged and took the bait; however, this won't happen every time. It will be hard to fight if I can't even get close to the enemy.

At present, I was limited only to close combat, which I liked, but I had to do something about this weakness.

My proficiency was pretty good in using a bow and arrow, but it would cause hindrance in my fighting style if I started to carry it.

As I was in my thoughts, trying to find a way to remove this open weakness. The system panel chimed in again with something new.

[Host has used all the existing banners and accumulated a large number of Origin Points.]

[Adding new features to the Gacha System. Would you like to see the new additions?]

"There is still more; you are being generous, system. Okay, let's check it out." I answered, looking forward to the new addition.

The interface was lively, to say the least; I also saw glowing 'NEW' in front of four options. My focus went to the temporary banner first.

"It was around 1000 Origin points to make the Undead Summoning banner permanent, wasn't it?" I remembered.

[Affirmative, Host]

Turning sideways, I looked at Thane busy tinkering with something in his hands, still showing his back.

Seraphine also looked immersed in reading the new cultivation technique. I left them to their devices again.

'Well, it wouldn't hurt to have this banner as permanent. I am already thinking of having common summons form an entire unit type.' I finally decided

'Convert the Undead banner into a permanent banner.' I conveyed my thoughts mentally; I didn't want to disturb them, especially Seraphine while she was understanding the technique.

[-1000 Origin Points]

[The Undead Summoning Banner is now a Permanent Banner.]

[Notice: The more temporary banners you convert into permanent banners, the cost required will increase with time.]

'Okay, good to know. So if the next temporary banner appears and I want to convert it into a permanent one, then it would cost 1000+ OP and more for the next one?' I confirmed.

[Yes, Host.]

'Now please show the details about the new features; they looked interesting,' I asked.

[I have been waiting for you to ask that, Host.]

[Assured Pull: It is a focused pull that requires a standard 10-pull cost combined with additional Origin Point investment to bias the outcome toward a selected rank.]

[Assured SS-rank Pull: Total Cost – 300 Origin Points]

[Assured SSS-rank Pull: Total Cost – 1000 Origin Points]

[Assured Transcendent-Rank Pull: Total Cost – 5000 Origin Points]

[Notice: Assured Pull will only result in one reward. Infinite-Rank cannot be selected, forced, or guaranteed under any circumstances.]

After reading about this feature, I didn't know if I should laugh or cry. On one hand, I now had a sure way of knowing the rank of rewards. However, on the other hand, this many damn points.

'Here I was thinking these 30,000 Origin points were going to last a while, but I think I may use them sooner than I thought.'

'Well, next please.' I added.

[Sub-banner Creation: You can request the creation of a banner. If the requested banner overlaps with an already unlocked permanent banner, it will be added as a Sub-banner.]

[Cost: Low (200-1000) Origin Points]

– - –

[New Banner Request: You can request to create a banner; if the requested banner does NOT fall under any permanent banner, then a new banner will be created.]

[Cost: High (depends on the requested banner); Minimum Cost is 1000 Origin Points.]

This new feature also looked like it was created to suck my Origin Points dry. I could perform a hundred pulls for the cost of a single one; this was more of a robbery.

However, the next moment, I looked at Assured Pull again, then looked at the two features again, and everything settled in place.

'FANTASTIC,' I screamed inwardly.

[You finally get it now?]

'Yes, with sub banner or even new banner option I can create a niche banner and then with Assured Pull, I can get desired rank.'

'The only downside is the huge OP requirement, but I guess I can't complain after this now.' I shared my understanding.

[The system can't get more specific; it will ruin the fun of Gacha entirely. So host, would you like to request a new banner?]

With still few thousands Origin points remaining, a grin appeared on my face as my thoughts churned.
