Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Difference Between A Man And A Boy III

The hurricanes around Yaroslav exploded, sending a powerful gust of cold wind that pushed his attackers away.

However, the wind couldn't do much to the Werewolves, but it did make them pause.

As for Yakov, he was already pushed back, losing control of his footing for several meters. He could only manage to stab his sword into the ground to stop his retreat.

This alone was enough to show anyone the difference between the General's strength and the regulars.

Yaroslav was a General of Durssia for a reason.

Even Andy was surprised by this move which was enough to render Yakov useless. Andy could feel the man's aura through Yaroslav and thought it was powerful.

Even more powerful than that of the soldiers who came with Yaroslav. However, he was not a match for the man he came to stop from returning to the capital.

"You all cannot stop me from returning to Groscow," Yaroslav said, tightening his grip on the reins of his horse.

"We don't need to stop you, my Prince, we only need to delay you."

With that being said, Mana swirled around the werewolves, making their fiendish auras more bizarre. Their strengths seemed to have been doubled by their manipulation of Mana.

The two of them jumped into the air, crossing the distance between them and the General in seconds.

Yaroslav had been wary of them because they could harm him, but looking at them closely, he noticed that their combat sense was basic at best.

If they were trained soldiers, they would have been able to put more fear in his heart.

Despite noticing this, Yaroslav didn't underestimate them, especially since that last hooded person wasn't affected by the gust of wind his hurricanes unleashed.

That should be the spellcaster.

While Yaroslav was taking all these observations in, he used his Mana to guide his steed, imbuing it with a portion of agility.

The horse moved back in a flash, dodging the powerful claws of the werewolves.

In a swift motion, Yaroslav held his bow in his hand and warned once again. "Cease this charade, Yakov, or I will no longer hold back."

Was Yaroslav being forgiving? Not exactly, but he didn't want to expend his limited endurance on unimportant adversaries.

"Now!" Yakov said and the last robed figure moved. He sliced the skin of his palm and chanted a spell.

Suddenly, the area around Yaroslav seemed to compress, as though the world was trying to imprison him.

The young general had to use his Mana to resist this restriction. However, like a snake, this restrictive power seemed to move like a slippery eel, tricking Yaroslav.

While he was expending some of his Mana to protect himself from the restrictive power, it switched targets, going for his bow.

In a flash, Yaroslav's bow vanished and reappeared in the hands of the Spellcaster, who found the weapon unnecessarily heavy.

Seeing that their plan had worked, Yakov smiled victoriously. Without his bow, he's ten times less threatening.

"My Prince, to not escalate things, why don't you ask your men to stand down?" He suggested.

Yaroslav arched a questioning brow at the seemingly arrogant man.

"What? You think I'm not much without my bow?"

"Of course not. Compared to me, you're still levels above what I can handle, but for these three," he gestured towards the werewolves and the Spellcaster.

"Without your bow, you're not necessarily a match for them combined."

"You still underestimate me, Yakov. This is the last time I'll say this, stop this foolishness." Yaroslav's tone dropped low and became a lot more threatening than his nonchalant tone.

"You should understand the concept of retreating when the odds are not in your favor," Yakov responded.

"Do you want to know the real reason why your father used to say that I am a man amongst men?"

A few seconds passed by with no reply. "A real man knows no fear."

Yaroslav raised his hands, gripping the air, as though he was holding an imaginary bow and arrow.

At first, it seemed weird, however, what happened next shook the hearts of Yakov and the rest.

"This is the difference between a boy and a man."

A bow, made out of nothing but pure Mana, from immaterial to an actual material object. Yaroslav pulled back and an arrow made of Mana was nudged on the string.

Before anyone could fully take in what they were saying. The arrow had already left the bow.

Nothing but a flash of light was seen. No sound, no pain, but the werewolves, Spellcaster, and Yakov were missing huge chunks of their bodies.

Even the mountain behind had a huge see-through hole in it. The flash of light had vanished, but more mountains in the distance continued to be destroyed.

Andy was left speechless by what he was witnessing. He began to doubt the authenticity of this Fragmented Shard.

Could a human ever be this powerful?

It took him a few seconds to digest all that he heard and saw. But what stuck with him the most was what Yaroslav said about real men not being afraid.

It struck a chord in him that made Andy feel ashamed.

Easy to say when you have the power to fight your fears. Andy muttered.

As for Yaroslav, he was breathing heavily, as drops of sweat ran down his entire body.

This attack of his had taken too much out of him. It was one of his powerful skills.

Yaroslav's endurance was already low, coupled with the fact that his Mana capacity hadn't recovered to its peak, this was beyond draining for him.

At the same time, Fyodor and the other soldiers had just bested their opponents, returning to their commander's side.

"Commander, are you okay?" Fyodor asked as he came over with Yaroslav's bow, handing it over to him.

"I'll be fine. Fyodor, we might have to change our approach."

"To what, commander?"

"We have to go separately. Give me your sword and armor. Take my bow and wolf coat."

"Huh!? But Commander!"

"No buts here Fyodor, this is a direct command. Obey it."

Fyodor paused, conflicted. "Yes, Commander."
