Adam's thoughts went straight to his sector.
If it's anything like what we faced here… they wouldn't even last a minute.
He knew his home sector's limits. Knew its manpower, its defenses, its response speed. This kind of nightmare, mutated rifts, sealed barriers, engineered tides, was far beyond what they could handle.
Adam didn't want to be bound to anything.
But he wasn't ready to watch his sector be erased either.
Not before I at least say proper goodbyes.
The commander began listing the sectors trapped within the barriers. One by one, numbers and locations filled the room. Adam listened closely, tension coiled tight in his chest.
Then…
Relief.
His sector wasn't among them.
The tightness eased, just a little. Adam let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding.
Once the commander finished outlining everything that had happened while they were sealed off, he continued without pause.
