The supermarket was livelier than usual that Saturday morning, the beginning of a week-long holiday. Weekend chatter echoed alongside the beeps of the cash registers. The upbeat background music rang from the ceiling speakers, befitting the spring season.
Customers of all ages were there to run shopping errands. Most of them pushed a trolley cart, while the others simply held baskets.
Lucille waited patiently in line at one of the cash registers. Wearing her favorite loose tracksuit, she styled her long hair into a messy bun. Traces of sleepiness were still evident on her face.
She lowered her gaze, glancing at her wristwatch. The hour was still early, around 8:20 in the morning. She smiled lazily at the thought of being free during this holiday break.
'I'll sleep again once I'm home.'
