I was in Crodo, the city beside the black forest. In the guildhall, people drinking and celebrating. I gold my staff tightly, I look around my heart pounding. "Kora calm down." Lyra says patting my shoulder. "We beat a B rank dungeon and got loot lighten up." She smiles brightly before drinking more rum. "N-No thank you. You know I get drunk easily." Carrius enters the guildhall, with Dran. The guuldhall is silent, before someone shouts."TO THE RED BEAR GUILD!!!" Raising his cup. The guildhall chants loudly. Carrius walks to our table, and sits next to me." Kora you're always so tense." I rubs my head playfully.
"You know I'm shy brother." Carrius smiles brightly then hugs me tightly. "This guild wouldn't be so successful without you sister." I wrap my arms around him, feeling the warmth on his chest underneath his silver armour. "Celebrate sister, all of us contributed to the dungeon." So let's celebrate."A TOAST TO THE FUTURE!!!" Carrius shouts raising his goblet of beer.
The next day, in the guildhall Carrius slams a poster on the desk with a bright smile on his face. I jump slightly, while Camb eats his loaf if bread. "Whats this?"
"There's a treasure in the black forest nearby the town. And its so valuable it can make most of us rich." He exclaims. The lively guild hall falls silent. Their happy and excited faces falls to a worried to serious expression. "The black forest, you know how dangerous that place is right?" One adventurer asks Carrius.
"I know how dangerous the forest is. For crying out loud I heard stories of adventurers going there an never coming back. But why not every one of us here in this hall go there. No monster can withstand the force of 100 adventures like us. So why not all of us go there and get the treasure!"
The tavern falls silent. Before everyone raises their weapons and tools then shout loudly. I hold my staff tighter, before Lyra placed her palm on my trembling hand. "Dont worry Kora, we got this." I nod,"y-yeah. We got this." She says softly.
Outside the town gates over 100 adventurers, fully geared and ready for the black forest with Carrius leading them. As soon as we entered the dark forest, my stomach feels uncomfortable, my body trembling slightly. "We got this, we got this."
Everyone walking confidently, with Camb marking trees with a chalk to lead us back. "I hate this." He murmurs, while chalking. I continue walking, and look around, and see a silhouette of a skinny man like being. Before disappearing. "I saw something!"
The adventurers continue moving clearly unable to heat me. "Guys wait?!" I slightly nudge one adventurer. The adventurer turns around, "what is it?" He says clutching his axe tighter. "I saw something! It was on the trees!" My voice got then covered by a scream. I turn around to see Cambs body standing without his head. Next to him was a monster, a tall lanky creature with the exoskeleton of a big, the head of a locust and big eyes that have small dots moving slowly. "Shit shit shit shit." I duck before hearing a slash. I turn around to see the dead bodies of 4 adventurers including the Tank with his axe. "It killed a tank!"
During the panic Carrius holds his shield and spear and dashes infront of me using his shields magic to protect everyone,"Kora are you alright?" I simply nod.
The creature then starts fluttering it's wings, my eyes open wide to see not 1 or even 10 but over 20 of these creatures. Each of them bombarding the shield. Everyone using their magic, skills, attacks on them, killing some of these creatures. Then... CRACK.
"Shit." Carrius murmurs. As soon as the shield cracks, the creatures move like a swarm. Killing each one of the adventurers. I use fire magic at one before one dodges and dashes before Carrius slashes one in half.
I look around to see adventurers die one by one. I walk back to see Lyra's body motionless. "Lyra...." I look back to see one of the bug creatures jump to me before, Carrius slashes one again. "Kora.. Run!!!" He shouts out loud. "What about you brother?" My voice trembling. "JUST RUN KORA, RUN!!" I straps his shield on my back and pushes me. I start running away, not looking back. A bug creature jumps to me before I summon a fire ball at it, burning it.
I continue running, not stopping. I walk through the forest, till I see a cave underneath a hill. The cave is big and the interior warm. I use camouflage magic to hide myself.
I walk to the big rock and sit on it. It's surface soft and gentle. Looking at the floor, my friends, my family, my brother dead within a few minutes. All of them dead yet I'm the only one alive. "Why why me? Why the weak timid mage?" I scream loudly. Holding my head down. Tears steaming down. I get up and leave the cave. My knees weak and shaky, leaning on the jet black trees. Then..
I hear a brutal scream. My hands trembling violently, I start running but my knees give out and collapse. "Why me?" I murmur to myself. Looking up my eyes widen to see one goreskin chimp jump at. Its eyes red and its mouth open wide, revealing its sharp teeth.
Then I see a man dash and stab its back. Then stab its back repeatedly, over and over and over. Before he stops and looks at me, his eyes white, and walking towards me. "W-wait please don't kill me?!" I crawl back before, he falls ontop of me. My heart beating rapidly lies it could jump out of chest." The man's body is a bloody mess. His forearm, chest, ankle and chest, crimson red. He's probably another adventurer. I hold his arms and pull him to the cave, he's really heavy. After some hours of pulling we're back into the cave, then as if my body shut down, I fall asleep ontop if him.
