Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: Seriously Unlucky

Chapter 37: Seriously Unlucky

This was Tatsumaki's final act of stubbornness.

Her proud psychokinesis had been utterly useless against this bald man, but that didn't mean she would willingly admit defeat.

Even when facing Saitama's extended finger, she had to express her resistance somehow!

Looking at Tatsumaki biting his finger with all her might, Saitama felt a little panicked, even though it didn't hurt at all.

He tried to shake her off, but her teeth were clamped onto his finger like magnets. Even as her entire body flailed around, she wouldn't let go.

"Damn brat! Are you a dog?! Let go, you bastard!"

Realizing she wouldn't let go no matter what, Saitama scratched his non-existent hair and came up with a plan.

He landed on the ground, a mischievous grin appearing on his face—the kind he usually wore when activating his "super-intelligence."

For once, Saitama chose not to use his super-strength, but instead deployed his super-brain.

[Serious Series: Serious Thinking - Brainstorming]!

He stared at Tatsumaki, meeting her gaze full of stubbornness and defiance, and smiled.

"Are you really not letting go?"

Tatsumaki didn't speak—or rather, she couldn't speak because she was biting his finger—but her stubborn eyes said everything.

Since that's the case... don't blame me...

Seeing the slightly creepy smile on the bald man's face, Tatsumaki felt a bad premonition.

Is he going to do something weird to my body? He really is a hopeless pervert! A lecher!

However, Saitama rummaged in his pocket and somehow pulled out a feather.

"Hehehehe! Face judgment, brat!"

In an instant, an intense ticklish sensation assaulted her. Tatsumaki's pupils constricted to pinpoints, and her body began to tremble involuntarily.

Damn it... what a despicable tactic! Using tickling?!

No! If I let go now, it means I've completely lost to this smelly baldy! I absolutely cannot let go!

Even though her face turned beet red from holding back laughter, Tatsumaki kept biting Saitama's finger, biting harder even, showing no signs of releasing.

Even when Saitama increased the firepower, pulling out three feathers at once, she refused to yield.

After tickling her mercilessly for a while and realizing she was struggling to breathe, her face as red as a ripe apple, Saitama finally stopped.

With the intense, mind-numbing itch finally gone, Tatsumaki gasped for air. Her eyes burned with rage, like a hissing cat, looking ready to kill Saitama with a glance.

She was drenched in sweat, her form-fitting high-slit dress clinging to her body, her face still flushed from holding back laughter.

As the S-Class Rank 2 hero, her willpower was no joke. Once she decided on something, she would never give up.

"Tch..."

Finding that even this move didn't work, Saitama's face crumpled like a bitter melon.

With no other choice, he dialed that magical number.

"Hey, King. A green-haired brat is clinging to me. She's biting my finger and won't let go. How do I get rid of her quickly?"

Hearing Saitama's description, King burst out laughing.

Bro, is Tatsumaki actually a dog?

He truly hadn't expected this. In his imagination, Tatsumaki would have thrown a tantrum with ineffective attacks and then gotten knocked out by one of Saitama's fingers.

Unexpectedly, refusing to admit defeat, she had stubbornly bitten onto the Caped Baldy's finger like a ferocious chihuahua.

King pondered for a moment. Based on Tatsumaki's personality, he offered a highly effective method.

After hearing the plan, Saitama paused, asking uncertainly:

"Are you sure that works? It sounds a little unreliable."

"Just use it. If it fails, I'll treat you to hotpot."

"Deal!"

Saitama cleared his throat. Following King's instructions, he leaned close to Tatsumaki's ear.

Feeling the warm breath on her earlobe, Tatsumaki felt a jolt like an electric shock run through her body. Her eyes widened instantly.

Saitama cupped his hands around his mouth to ensure the sound went directly into her ear:

"You weakling."

The atmosphere instantly froze. The world seemed to fall silent for two seconds.

Just as Saitama thought the move had failed, Tatsumaki opened her mouth and let go.

Immediately after, a torrent of curses erupted.

"HAH?! Did you just call me a weakling?! You damn bald man! Boiled egg! Small fry! Pauper! Ugly freak! Pervert! Creep! Bastard! Spandex-wearing weirdo! You—"

"STOP STOP STOP!!"

Flick.

A finger flick landed squarely on Tatsumaki's forehead. Her eyes rolled back, and she collapsed straight to the ground, unconscious.

Looking at the unconscious Tatsumaki, Saitama rubbed his phantom hair with lingering fear.

"That was close. If I let that brat keep cursing, my head would have been insulted countless more times."

"I really don't know how kids are raised nowadays. Such foul mouths. Parents should really discipline them better..."

Saitama grumbled as he picked Tatsumaki up by the scruff of her neck and ran toward the Hero Association.

From start to finish, he never saw Tatsumaki as an "opponent." Just a flying child with a bad temper.

After all, the little guy hadn't hurt him. She just cursed his baldness a few times. Hurting her would be bad.

But mostly...

Saitama looked at the unconscious Tatsumaki and felt a wave of retrospective fear.

If I accidentally injured this kid, what if her parents come looking for compensation?

Saitama didn't want to lose all his newfound wealth just because he beat up a child.

If Tatsumaki knew his thoughts, she would definitely explode with rage again.

Meanwhile.

King put away his phone, shaking his head with a smile.

Judging by Saitama's tone, the battle was over.

Speaking of which, this little girl was quite pitiful.

As the S-Class Rank 2, Tatsumaki's combat power was top-tier, even in the grand scheme of the series. Aside from the "cheat characters" like Blast, she was arguably the strongest on the human side.

But in the past few days, what level of opponents had she faced?

First, King—whose base state was the Gate of Death physique, stacked with the Seventh Gate. A certified stat monster.

And just now, she faced the ultimate representative of stats—a being with no mechanics, just pure, overwhelming power.

Suffice it to say, no matter who she fought, losing wasn't unjust.

King ended his train of thought and refocused on the matter at hand.

In front of him, a young man in a white lab coat stood frozen in place, a look of terror on his face.

The atmosphere was incredibly stiff.

Dr. Genus's mouth twitched. Seriously unlucky.

He cursed himself for forgetting that culprits often return to the scene of the crime to admire their handiwork.

Just moments ago, Dr. Genus had been scavenging through the ruins of the House of Evolution, hoping to find surviving data or test subjects.

Most importantly, he needed the data on infinite regeneration and cloning. This was crucial for the success of his future takoyaki business.

Dr. Genus planned to use these two technologies to mass-produce infinite octopus tentacles, saving on raw material costs.

Additionally, he wanted to find a couple of helpers, preferably former monsters under his command, for easy management.

So far, he had only found the deserter, Armored Gorilla.

As for Mosquito Girl, he knew she wasn't dead, but she had been slapped too far away. There was no point looking for her right now.
