Chapter 2 - Chapter [2] System Activate

Raeshan's heart skipped a beat at the sudden turn of events.

A cold, mechanical voice echoed inside his mind.

A transparent blue window unfolded before his eyes.

"…A system?"

His pulse quickened.

Taking a slow breath, he reached out instinctively. His fingers passed straight through the glowing window.

"So it's real…"

As if responding to his thoughts, the screen flickered again.

[First Quest Available]

Raeshan's eyes widened.

Quest: First Harvest

"…A quest just for farming?" he muttered.

A strange mix of relief and excitement washed over him.

Lowering his gaze to the cabbage before him, he tightened his grip on the hoe and swung.

The blade sliced cleanly through the stem.

[Cabbage Harvested]

[Experience +1]

A faint warmth spread through his body.

Raeshan froze.

"…I felt that."

The sensation didn't fade. Instead, it lingered—flowing from his hands up his arms and into his chest like a gentle pulse.

He exhaled slowly.

"So that feeling… was experience?"

The system answered at once.

[Experience Gained: +1]

[Current Experience: 1 / 100]

He glanced from the numbers to the cabbage in his hands. It looked no different—green, heavy, fresh.

He swung again.

[Cabbage Harvested]

[Experience +1]

The warmth returned.

Raeshan continued working in silence, cutting cabbage after cabbage. Sweat gathered on his brow, and a dull ache crept into his muscles, but he didn't stop.

Minutes passed.

[Cabbage Harvested x5]

[Experience +5]

The system chimed softly.

[Quest Progress: First Harvest — 6 / ?]

Raeshan paused, resting his weight against the hoe. His breathing was steady, his mind unusually calm.

"So effort really turns into power in this world…"

He straightened and scanned the quiet field. The sun had climbed higher, and the forest behind his house stood dark and watchful.

Then—

A sharp chime rang out.

[Skill Level Up!]

Farming Lv. 2 → Lv. 3

Knowledge flooded his mind—how to cut cleaner, how to avoid damaging roots, how to judge ripeness at a glance.

Raeshan's eyes widened.

"…It just appeared."

His grip felt more natural now. The hoe seemed lighter in his hands. He flexed his fingers slowly, testing the unfamiliar ease in his movements.

"So this is what leveling up feels like…"

He stepped forward and harvested two more cabbages with smooth, efficient motions.

A small smile touched his lips—brief, but genuine.

He returned to work, calm and focused. Each swing was deliberate, without wasted effort.

The pile beside him steadily grew.

When the final cabbage fell into his hands, the system chimed—clearer than before.

[Quest Complete: First Harvest]

Raeshan froze.

A warm wave surged through his entire body, stronger than before—pleasant, invigorating.

[Experience +5]

[Farming Lv. 3 → Lv. 4]

[Skill Acquired: Basic Tool Mastery (Hoe)]

His vision blurred for a moment as fresh understanding settled into his muscles—how to angle the blade, conserve stamina, and work longer without strain.

"…Amazing," he whispered.

Another notification appeared.

[Passive Progress Recorded]

[Noble Blood (Sealed): 1%]

His breath caught.

"One percent…"

"So it really responds to effort," he murmured.

He slowly clenched his fist, feeling the lingering warmth beneath his skin. It wasn't overwhelming power—but it was proof.

Proof that even someone cast aside as talentless could still move forward.

The system window shimmered once more.

[Status Update Available]

Raeshan focused.

"My stats… went up."

It wasn't much, but his posture felt firmer, his breathing steadier.

A breeze swept across the field, carrying the scent of soil and fresh leaves.

Now, as the new owner of this body, I'll move forward—and grow stronger with the help of the system, Raeshan thought.

He lifted the basket of cabbages and headed back to the house.

Inside, he set the basket aside, then stepped out toward the well. Drawing up a bucket, he washed himself, the cool water easing the fatigue from his body.

Afterward, he stood quietly for a moment, then poured the remaining water back into the well and turned inside.

The wooden door creaked as he entered. The house was simple—a small table, a chair, a narrow bed, and little else.

He placed the basket near the corner, planning to take some to the village later.

His stomach growled softly in the quiet room.

Raeshan sighed and rubbed his face.

"First… food."

He glanced around the small house, eyes settling on the hearth.

It hadn't been used in a while, but the firewood stacked nearby looked dry enough. Kneeling down, he set to work, striking flint against stone until a weak flame finally caught.

Soon, a gentle warmth filled the room.

Raeshan took one of the cabbages from the basket and washed it again, careful and thorough.

He chopped it with steady hands, the faint thok thok of the knife echoing softly. The scent of fresh vegetables slowly spread through the air as he tossed them into a simple pot with water and a pinch of salt.

Nothing fancy—just enough to fill an empty stomach.

When the soup was finally ready, he poured it into a wooden bowl. Steam rose gently, carrying a comforting smell.

Raeshan took a slow sip.

"…Good enough," he murmured.

Raeshan ate in peace, unaware that this simple meal marked the first step of a much longer journey.
