Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Time-Space Dragon King, Choosing a Spirit Soul!

[Time-Space Dragon King]

[Description: The most enigmatic sovereign of the Dragon Clan. It commands absolute authority over the dimensions of time and space. Bloodline potential: Ranked second only to the Dragon God.]

The Time-Space Dragon King...

A bloodline second only to the Dragon God himself...

Xie Xie stared at the translucent text hovering in his mind, his heart hammering against his ribs. If the System's assessment was accurate, then this era wouldn't just be the legend of the Dragon King Tang Wulin.

It would be his era.

"So," he whispered to himself, a sharp, cold light returning to his eyes. "I have a 'cheat code' after all."

He took a deep breath, forcing his surging emotions into a box. Now was not the time to be distracted. He looked up at his parents, only to find them frozen in place, their mouths slightly agape.

Their shock clearly mirrored his own.

"My son's Martial Soul..." Jiang Yun's voice trailed off, her eyes fixed on the towering dragon shadow that loomed behind Xie Xie.

Xie Tianhai was even more speechless. As a Spirit Saint—especially one who had graduated from the continent's most prestigious academy—he was a man of immense experience. He had seen countless powerful souls, but he had never witnessed anything like this.

More importantly, he felt a crushing sense of bloodline suppression.

In the world of Draconic Martial Souls, bloodline hierarchy was absolute—a literal dimensional strike from superior to inferior. His own Shadow Dragon was no common soul; it was a top-tier Sub-Dragon species with the potential to reach the True Dragon rank. Yet, in the presence of his six-year-old son, his own soul was trembling in instinctive fear.

"That illusory, shifting form... what kind of dragon is that?" Xie Tianhai muttered. He shook himself out of his stupor and looked at his wife. "Honey, the testing crystal. We need to check his Innate Soul Power immediately."

"Right! Of course!" Jiang Yun snapped out of her daze and hurriedly presented a high-grade testing crystal.

Both parents held their breath. Given the phenomenon they had just witnessed, they already had an inkling of what was coming.

Xie Xie stepped forward and placed his hand on the crystal.

Whoosh!

A blinding, sapphire-gold light erupted from the stone, filling the hall until the crystal reached its absolute saturation point.

Rank 10. Innate Full Soul Power!

Even after twenty thousand years of soul technology advancement, Innate Full Soul Power remained the gold standard of genius on the Douluo Continent. It was the mark of a future Super Douluo—or perhaps even a Limit Douluo.

"Xiao Xie," Xie Tianhai said, his voice thick with emotion. "What is the name of your Martial Soul?"

"Father," Xie Xie looked up, his expression one of calm confidence. "It is the Time-Space Dragon King. A sovereign that governs the fabric of time and the vacuum of space."

"The... Time-Space Dragon King?"

The name hung in the air, heavy with divine weight. Even if they didn't fully grasp the depths of its power, the title "Dragon King" combined with "Time and Space" was enough to leave them reeling.

"Space... and even Time?" Jiang Yun whispered in disbelief.

"It sounds impossible to master," Xie Xie replied enigmatically. He didn't want to reveal too much. Controlling time was a god-level concept, but with the System backing him, the "impossible" was merely a milestone.

"I imagine it will be difficult," Xie Tianhai sighed, his pride beaming through his stoic exterior. "But even if you only master a fraction of that power, you will be peerless among your peers. A Titled Douluo might be my limit, but for you... the sky is no longer the ceiling."

"Mom is so proud of you!" Jiang Yun chimed in, pulling Xie Xie into a hug and ruffling his hair. She was already mentally drafting the list of "sister-friends" she needed to call to brag about her son—and perhaps scout for potential daughters-in-law.

"Mom... I'm not a child anymore," Xie Xie sighed, though he didn't pull away. After a moment, he looked at his father. "Dad, when can I get my first Spirit Soul?"

"Today," Xie Tianhai said decisively. "Now that the Spirit Pagoda exists, there's no reason to wait. We're going to the Donghai City branch immediately."

As they made their way to the garage, Xie Xie felt a slight pang of worry. Donghai City was a major hub, but its Spirit Pagoda branch wasn't the headquarters. Would they have a Spirit Soul worthy of the Time-Space Dragon King?

[The Host may rest easy.]

[For the Time-Space Dragon King, ordinary Spirit Souls will not cause negative compatibility issues or hinder the development of Soul Abilities.]

[The "quality" of the Spirit Soul only dictates the level of direct combat assistance it provides as a summoned entity. Your Martial Soul will naturally refine any ability into a Time-Space variant.]

System, you really are efficient, Xie Xie thought, his confidence renewed. If the specific species didn't matter as much for his first ring, he just needed something with high foundational stats.

The family arrived at the center of Donghai City, where the Spirit Pagoda loomed—a massive, silver spire that pierced the clouds.

As they entered, a black-robed Spirit Caller approached them with a professional smile. However, when his gaze landed on Xie Xie, he froze. He had worked here for a decade, and he had never seen a child this young—barely past his sixth birthday—coming to select a Spirit Soul. This implied the boy had already reached Rank 10 in a matter of hours or days.

"Welcome," the Caller said, his voice hushed with sudden respect. "Are you here for a selection?"

"We are," Xie Tianhai nodded. "We require a Hundred-Year Spirit Soul."

"Please, follow me."

The Caller led them to a high-tech selection chamber. He activated a massive holographic terminal, and hundreds of Spirit Soul profiles flickered across the screen: plants, beasts, and even rare metallic types.

"I need something of the Dragon lineage," Xie Xie stated, his eyes scanning the data streams. "Ideally with spatial or high-speed attributes. If those aren't available, anything with extreme agility will suffice."

"Dragon-type... Space... Speed..." The Spirit Caller frowned, his fingers flying across the interface. "Spatial Spirit Souls are incredibly rare, even in the main headquarters. As for speed-focused dragons..."

He paused, then highlighted a specific entry. "We have a Hundred-Year Wind Dragon. It's the highest-tier agility-based dragon currently in our inventory. It doesn't have spatial properties, but its speed is unmatched for its rank."

Xie Xie stared at the holographic image of the Wind Dragon. It was a sleek, emerald-scaled creature that seemed to be made of condensed hurricanes.

Not space-type, but speed is the foundation of space, Xie Xie thought. I can work with this.
