Chapter 8 - Priorities and Prophecies

The "Lazy God" Sanctuary (Alex's House):

The living room is a mess of chip bags. Allen is slumped so far down the couch he's practically melting into it. The TV is blaring a dramatic k-drama where the lead actress is crying.

Allen: (Talking to the TV) "Oh, come on! Just tell him you like him! You've been staring at each other for three episodes. Even the God of Light doesn't have that much patience."

He reaches into a bucket of fried chicken, only to find it empty. He shakes it, hopeful, then sighs deeply.

Allen: "Where is that idiot Alex? I told him to bring back a 12-pack of spicy drumsticks. Why is he taking so long saving those girls? It's a rescue mission, not a world tour."

He looks at his phone. There are 47 missed calls from the "High Council" and the "Global Defense Ministry." He swipes them all away and opens a mobile game instead.

Allen: "Hmm... nvm. If the world ends today, at least I'll die with a high score. Priorities, man."

The Interrogation (Underground Facility):

The vibe here is the exact opposite. The air is heavy with Alex's mana. Lord Kaelen is finally speaking, his voice shaking as he tries to maintain some dignity.

Lord Kaelen: "You... you don't understand, Alex. We aren't 'hurting' them. We are preparing them. The Prophecy of the Twin Stars states that the daughters of the Light and Dark families will inherit the 'Original Essence' of the Gods."

Alex: (Leaning back, spinning a shadow-dagger on his finger) "Inherit? That's a fancy word for 'stealing power that doesn't belong to them.' Keep going."

Lady Elara: "According to the Ancient Scrolls, when the world faces the Great Eclipse, the Gods will pass their 'Contract' to the descendants. We thought... we thought by pushing them to their limits, we could force the inheritance to trigger early."

Alex: (Stops spinning the dagger) "So, you tortured them to 'jump-start' a power you don't even understand? You guys really are idiots."

The "Twist" (World-Building Stuff):

Lady Elara: "It's not just that! The scrolls say the Contract is a merger. The girl who inherits the Light must be 'pure,' and the one who inherits the Dark must be 'consumed.' If they fail, the power stays locked away, and the world burns!"

Alex: (Laughing out loud) "Pure? Consumed? Man, whoever wrote those scrolls was a terrible poet. You've got it all wrong. The Contract isn't a inheritance... it's a partnership."

Serina: (Speaking up from her chains) "A partnership? You mean... we don't 'become' you? We work with you?"

Alex: (Grinning) "Bingo. But you can't partner with someone you're afraid of. And these 'Heads' here? They've been teaching you to fear the power instead of befriending it."

The Ending Hook:

Alex stands up and walks toward the girls, snapping the mana-suppression chains as if they were made of wet paper.

Alex: "Alright, I've heard enough. Lord Kaelen, Lady Elara... as of this second, you are retired. If I see you near these girls again, I won't use a soda can. I'll use a mountain."

Suddenly, the wall of the facility explodes. Not from an attack, but from a teleportation rift. Allen walks through, wearing pajamas and holding an empty chicken bucket.

Allen: "ALEX! I'm starving! You've been talking for ten minutes and the chicken shop closes in five! Move it!"

The Family Heads stare at the "God of Light" who looks like he just woke up from a 12-hour nap.
