Chapter 1 - The Village Diagnosis

The young child nestled herself comfortably on the examination table as the village doctor gently checked her pulse. Heavenly-Autumn, a spirited little girl, radiated energy and hope, her bright eyes shining with innocence. However, there lingered a shadow; she was burdened by a mystical ailment that revealed itself as a swirling, beautiful design etched across her back. This peculiar mark drew curious glances and hushed whispers, for anything unfamiliar was often met with disapproval in the tight-knit village. Her condition caused her to lapse into unconsciousness for stretches of 10 to 20 days, a troubling occurrence that gnawed at her parents' hearts.

"I have never encountered a disease quite like this," the doctor said, his brow furrowing in concentration. "It does not seem life-threatening at this point, but let's observe how she responds to this medication while I continue to research her case. With some time and effort, I am confident I can uncover the origins of this affliction and understand why it impacts her."

Heavenly-Autumn, caught in a whirlwind of confusion, glanced back at her parents, her playful pigtails bobbing as she turned her head. She noticed the tears pooling in her mother's eyes, and an uneasy feeling settled in her chest, an instinct that something was terribly wrong.

"Mama, Papa, why are you so sad?"she asked innocently, her voice tinged with concern.

Suddenly, her mother could no longer contain her emotions; she dashed out of the room, sobs escaping her as torrents of tears streamed down her cheeks, a heartbreaking sight that painted the walls with despair.

"Your mother is simply very worried about you," her father replied gently, his voice cracking slightly. "The doctor just told us that you are unwell—like when one of your friends was sick but eventually got better?"

Heavenly-Autumn nodded slowly, trying to grasp the concept, her youthful mind racing with thoughts of playdates and laughter.

Her father continued, his heart heavy with unshed tears, "However, it might not be the same for you."

"Papa, are you saying I am sick and may not get better?"she asked, her tone naïve yet piercing.

Caught off guard by the gravity of her inquiry, he pulled her into a tight embrace, wrapping her in warmth as if to shield her from the harsh reality that loomed ahead. In that moment, he couldn't find the words to ease her fears, only the comfort of his arms to convey the love and support she so desperately needed.
