Chapter 3 - Pact with Darkness chapter two

After sunset, Shiros set out to search for an apartment to rent, planning to pay for it after finding work, but this was a losing deal for property owners.

Fortunately, Shiros noticed a warm light shining from one of the narrow alleys.

He approached to take a look and found four filthy men gathered around a campfire. Upon seeing this sight, he said to himself: Wonderful, wonderful. Their situation is like mine. I can warm myself by this fire and become friends with these brothers.

Shiros approached the men. "Hello, don't you have a home? Hahaha, I'm like you now. Let me warm myself with you."

The men looked at each other, and after a moment of silence, one of them said: "Hello, boy. Where is your father?"

Shiros replied in an angry tone: "Forget about my father. I haven't seen him in years, and even my mother died just a few days ago. I have nothing now."

"Well, come sit with us."

As a teenager, Shiros believed that what brings people's hearts together is their similarity.

...

After an hour of sitting quietly and listening to the homeless men's talk, Shiros felt sleepy.

"My brothers, where can I sleep? I'm feeling drowsy."

The men fell silent for a moment, exchanged glances, and one of them spoke: "Sleep over there."

He pointed to a certain corner.

Shiros said in confusion: "Where?"

"There."

"But I don't see any bed or mattress or mat to sleep on."

"Mattress what? Bed what? If we had a mat, we'd be sleeping on it now."

Shiros realized he would sleep in the street on the ground in the heart of winter. It took him minutes to accept this reality in his mind, but afterward, he lay down on the rough, cold ground until sleep took him.

The sound of crows woke Shiros in the middle of the day. He raised his head upward; the sky was filled with clouds but without rain, though the air was extremely cold.

"What is this strange weather? Why do I feel all this cold?"

Of course, the reason for this sharp feeling of cold was not the severe cold, but for Shiros, the reason for the weather's coldness could be understood simply by looking down.

Shiros looked down...

Where are my shoes?

Where are my clothes?

I'm naked, oh God, how did this happen?

I've been robbed by those homeless men... This is truly a disaster, a disaster.
