Nora's POV
I jolt awake in a state of alarm, my body shooting upright as my eyes dart frantically around the room.
My hands immediately reach across the mattress, certain that I had fallen asleep holding our newborn daughter and somehow let her slip from my grasp or become entangled in the bedding.
"Easy," James murmurs from somewhere nearby. "She's safe and sound."
As my vision clears and adjusts to the soft lighting, I spot James positioned near the window. Our daughter Renata rests peacefully in his arms, wrapped in a fresh blanket that differs from the one she wore earlier.
"Nothing's wrong with her?" The question sounds foolish even as I voice it, but I need the reassurance.
