Nora's POV
Sitting up makes my head spin, exactly like James warned it would. Every time he takes a good amount of my blood, he hovers over me for hours afterward while my body recovers.
"Are you okay, love?" James tugs his sweatpants back up and rushes to my side. I sink back onto the mattress and blink several times to clear my vision.
"Yeah. Just the dizziness you mentioned."
"Lay back down. I'll get you water."
"I can handle it myself."
"I know you can." He's already reaching for the blanket to wrap around me again. "But I can handle it too." His lips brush my forehead before he vanishes from the room, returning within seconds carrying a glass of water. I drink deeply before placing it on the nightstand.
"Do you need to go to work tonight?"
"I finished reviewing the books, but I was planning to head in. I let Emilia feed yesterday so her fangs would regrow. I'm going to tear them out again after I interrogate her."
"What happens if she talks?"
