Nora's POV
"Holy hell," I whisper under my breath, my fingers trembling as I frantically click through to the news website. The page loads with agonizing slowness, and I immediately hit play on the video clip showing a polished news reporter standing against the backdrop of Vaughn Pier. The fierce Chicago wind whips her blonde hair into a frenzy while massive waves crash against the concrete structure, sending icy spray high into the air.
"I'm reporting live from Vaughn Pier, where multiple witnesses claim they saw a man emerge from Lake Michigan's treacherous waters earlier this morning." Her voice carries that practiced authority all news anchors possess. "As you can see behind me, conditions today are particularly dangerous, with strong currents and an active undertow warning in effect. Even on the warmest summer days, these waters would be considered too hazardous for swimming."
