The heavy tome slams shut as I push back from the library desk, my spine protesting after hours hunched over ancient texts. Days have crawled by since we laid Kevin to rest, each one blending into the next as we drown ourselves in research.
Egyptian deities weren't just stories the Academy taught us about. While non-magical people dismiss them as mythology, we understand the reality behind those tales. Like their Greek counterparts, these powerful beings faded when humanity's worship shifted elsewhere. Where they went remains an unsolved puzzle, but I can feel us getting closer to the answer.
Once we crack this code, those damned Horsemen are finished. And then Leonard dies by my hand. The image of his destruction fills me with savage satisfaction.
