I always believed that having a child in the house meant constant chaos and endless noise echoing through every room.
Yet here I stood, watching something entirely different unfold. "Do something, you little troublemaker! All you do is sit there with that perfect posture and that creepy smile! You're giving me the chills!"
"I apologize, Auntie!" Mateo's voice carried that innocent tone that fooled no one.
The boy maintained his angelic expression, but I caught the flash of pure mischief dancing in his dark eyes. His grin stretched wider as Ethel glared at him with murderous intent.
I had to admit, their constant sparring provided better entertainment than any television show. The way they circled each other like predators was both amusing and oddly endearing.
