Savannah's POV
"Seriously? This is your master plan?"
"I think it's brilliant. Look at you and—"
"Mateo."
I rubbed my temples while gripping Mateo's trembling hand. How do I even begin to explain this nightmare?
Chaos.
That word fits perfectly. Standing here with the man who kidnapped me, who happens to be my ex-husband's twisted brother, holding a terrified child that my ex basically abandoned to me, all three of us frozen in front of a cheerful amusement park entrance.
If reading that confused you, imagine living it.
After Dennis's violent outburst about my protective mark preventing his disgusting advances, he dragged Mateo into the room. The poor boy collapsed into my arms, sobbing hysterically before Dennis could even unveil his latest scheme.
"Simple. I'll use the kid to babytrap you into a relationship with me."
"That's not how babytrapping works—"
"Savannah, that's incredibly insensitive. We can't conceive naturally because of our fertility issues."
