Chapter 23 - The Day the Paths Split

After Gori woke up the next day, he said that the time for the test had come and that they would soon discover his true type. Far away, Horaid spoke to a man named Fatawa, a member of the H.U.H organization and the right-hand man of the human leader Gamiki. Horaid told him that Gori had discovered a new secret, and that if he activated it the same way his father once did, he would destroy them with ease. Horaid ordered Fatawa to kill Gori, threatening to destroy the organization's headquarters if he failed. He showed him Gori's appearance, and Fatawa assured him that the task would be done.

Fatawa was the same person who had attacked Gori in the past, but his appearance had changed. He had become far more lethal after Horaid subjected him to a scientific experiment that completely altered the course of his life.

Back to Gori, who was about to begin his first training session with Instructor Quarik. Quarik addressed the team, which consisted of Gori, Mejora, and Hako, and told them that their first training would be a direct confrontation against him. They reacted in shock, but Quarik told them not to worry, assuring them that he would go easy on them.

The training began. Gori activated the first and second seals and attacked, but Quarik blocked and evaded the strikes with ease. Mejora and Hako joined the assault, yet Quarik continued to dodge their attacks effortlessly. Gori asked how he was doing this, and Quarik explained that he possessed a skill called Hano Sokudo.

Gori expressed his admiration and asked if Quarik would teach them the skill. Quarik replied that he would, as long as they continued training under him. During the exchange, Hako managed to land a hit on Quarik. Seeing this, Quarik activated his first internal transformation, shifting the flow of the battle. He began blocking and counterattacking with overwhelming precision.

Gori challenged him to use one of his true power techniques. Quarik responded by activating a skill known as Thousand Weapons. Thousands of weapons formed around his body and struck the team relentlessly, tearing through their formation one by one. Sensing that the attack would completely destroy them, Quarik stopped the technique before it went too far.

He announced that it was time for rest.

After taking a short nap, Gori woke up, drank some water, and headed into the forest, where he encountered Yunoshi. They greeted each other warmly, noting how long it had been since they last met.

Elsewhere, Jiklo was at the Third Seal School training alongside his friend Tadoni. Jiklo asked Tadoni if he was originally from the Third Seal Village and how old he was. Tadoni replied that he was twenty years old and had transferred from the Fifth Seal Village. When asked why he transferred, Tadoni explained that he wanted to learn more about life and chose their village without hesitation. Jiklo found this admirable. Soon after, Lika joined them and asked what they were discussing. Jiklo told her that he was getting to know Tadoni better, and she asked if she could join them.

Back to Gori. After parting ways with Yunoshi, he went to find a place to stay, but he had no money. He dug a shelter with his own hands and slept on the sand. The next morning, he realized he needed a job. He wandered through the crowded areas of the city searching for work.

Later, he heard breaking news on television announcing that the five villages had officially become the Five Seal Cities. Gori reflected on how the concept of villages had been abolished and replaced by cities, and how his identification would now list him as a citizen of the Third Seal City. He felt proud, sensing that a new era had begun.

Remembering his immediate goal, Gori continued searching for work until he finally found a job at a restaurant as a waiter. After a long day of work, he earned enough money to buy a bed. Days passed as he worked, gradually buying furniture and improving his living conditions. After a year of hardship, training, and relentless effort, Gori managed to buy a proper house. He moved his belongings from the hole he once lived in into his new home.

As he returned one day after buying food, he opened the door and was met with a shocking surprise.
