Chapter 74 - Chapter 74

Chapter 74 Who says mages can't wear armor?!

Hearing Finney's words, Nick Fury mentally calculated the threat Finney could pose, or rather, he wondered if he could actually deal with Finney.

He couldn't be sure if Finney was telling the truth, and that teleportation technique was too unsolvable. If Stark continued to supply Finney with weapons, the two of them could destroy a country.

After silently reminiscing about the woman who could destroy warships with her bare hands, Nick felt Finney wasn't so bad

after all. However, Nick Fury didn't know that Finney also had a woman behind him, and a bald one at that!

"I need a way to contact you anytime,"

Nick said. Although Finney hadn't chosen to join the team he was planning to create, establishing contact was enough to fulfill his expectation of meeting her.

  "Just call this number,"

Finney read out his phone number. His phone had been modified by Tony and had call tracking capabilities.

"Oh, right, there's one more thing."

Finney suddenly remembered something and hurriedly said to Nick, who had just saved the number, "Find a way to change that title 'Silver Knight.' I don't even have a mount, how can I be called a knight?"

  "…"

Nick's expression was a little strange. He, the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., the head of the world's largest intelligence organization, was he really responsible for giving people nicknames?!

"So what do you want to change it to?"

Nick was really going to great lengths to win Finney over.

  "Silver Burst Mage!"

  "Pfft!"

Tony, who had been completely invisible all along, choked and almost spat out his drink, making Finney a little embarrassed: "Doesn't it sound good?"

"I think Chicken Nugget Roll Man is pretty good."

Tony shrugged, suggesting in a self-helpful manner.

  "Get lost!"

Finney cursed irritably, then couldn't help but think about it. It seemed that the nickname was indeed a bit long.

Marvel superhero nicknames are generally quite simple, like Captain America, Captain Marvel, Iron Man, War Machine, Thor, Black Panther, Spider-Man, and so on.

It seems there aren't any superheroes with nicknames longer than five characters.

"Forget it, I won't change it for now."

Tony's teasing made Finney question the nickname he'd been thinking about for so long, and although he was currently wearing the 'Demon's Embrace' costume, he might not wear it forever.

Seeing Finney so bothered by this, Nick was at a loss for words; this was a far cry from the 'Silver Knight' he'd initially imagined.

"Agent Romanoff already knows your name. Telling her your identity should be fine, right? I'll have her deliver what you need to you later."

  "Her!?"

Finney frowned slightly. He didn't actually have a very good impression of Black Widow, especially since she was very good at networking and intelligence gathering, and besides, she was the main reason for this exposure.

  "What about that balding Coulson?"

Finney asked. Honest Coulson was much better; although he was also an agent, he was much more sincere.

  "He's on a mission,"

  Nick replied.

Hearing this, Finney's heart skipped a beat, and he asked with concern, "What mission?"

  "It's classified!"

Nick frowned, noticing something was off about Finney's expression.

"Is it related to the hammer?"

Finney wasn't worried about the implications; he didn't plan to get involved anyway, he just wanted to confirm if Thor had been banished to Earth.

Nick stared intently at Finney. He genuinely wanted to know where Finney's information came from. Coulson had only arrived at his destination yesterday and discovered it was a hammer.

"Do you know what that is?"

"Yes, a weapon, a very famous one, you might know it." Finney glanced at Tony, who was also looking at him curiously, and explained, "Mjolnir, Thor's hammer."

"You mean that's the hammer from mythology?"

  Tony thought Finney was joking.

"Yes, and its owner is here too." Finney looked at Tony and said with a mocking tone, "I've told you before, many aliens have come to Earth, this Thor is one of them."

"You mean that's actually an alien weapon, and another alien has come to Earth?"

Nick's face changed; he hadn't expected this matter to involve aliens.

"Don't worry so much. How about this, if you can bring me what I need tomorrow, I'll tell you some information about them, how about it?"

Finney looked at Nick with interest. He was also quite afraid that things would get complicated, so he hoped to get the 'obelisk' as soon as possible.

"I'll talk to you about the consultant later. I'm leaving now."

Nick Fury said to Tony and then left decisively. He wouldn't completely believe Finney, but he wouldn't completely disbelieve him either. In any case, he had to go back and investigate this matter carefully.

  "Are you serious?"

After Nick left, only Finney and Tony remained in the room. Tony couldn't resist his curiosity and asked Finney, "Did a hammer and an alien Thor come to Earth?"

"Yeah, if nothing unexpected happens, he was banished to Earth."

Finney wasn't sure if things would be exactly as in the original story, so he didn't speak too definitively.

  "Banned!?"

Tony was taken aback and frowned. "You mean they've always had contact with Earth?"

"More or less." Finney was worried that Nick Fury might have left some hidden device with Tony, so he didn't dare say too much and changed the subject, "What about your building?"

"It's fine, I was planning to renovate it anyway."

When it came to money, Tony was clearly not that concerned.

After chatting for a few more minutes, Finney returned home. Since most of the damage involved Stark properties, Tony would likely be busy.

Moreover, Tony would have to deal with the aftermath of the battle; this was the price of revealing his identity.

After several hours of fermentation, the battle gradually spread to other places,

  such as Kamar-Taj.

Of course, when Finney came to Kamar-Taj for his morning meditation that evening, he noticed many mages secretly observing him. Although he had expected this, he still felt somewhat uncomfortable.

This was probably one of the reasons he didn't want to reveal his identity.

  "You all probably already know!"

Reluctantly, Finney had no choice but to preemptively state, "Please keep this a secret, mages, and don't reveal my identity."

"Mage Finney, how did you do that spell?"

Seeing Finney talking to the crowd, a curious mage asked. Although the magic circle created by Finney's explosion spell in the video resembled Kamar-Taj magic, they were fundamentally different.

  "Sorry, that's a secret."

Finney helplessly shrugged. Asking about the secrets of magic was something only very close people could do, so Finney's refusal to answer was understandable.

"Phineas, it seems you've gained another nickname, 'Knight of Divine Punishment,' and apparently someone's even started a Church of Divine Punishment."

  "What?"

Phineas was dumbfounded. His explosive magic was already so powerful, how come he still couldn't shake off the "knight" label? Did wearing armor automatically make someone a knight?!

Damn it, who says mages can't wear armor?!
