Chapter 58 - A Coup? No — A Revolution

Silence.

Absolute, suffocating silence blanketed the Uchiha compound.

Hundreds of pairs of eyes seemed nailed in place by something unseen—

no one dared move.

They could only stare, deadlocked on the figure standing at the center—

Uchiha Arata.

At this moment, the crimson chakra had already receded from his body.

All that remained was the faintly flowing moonlight within three feet around him—

and that single, slowly rotating silver "little sun."

Before him, the Third Elder and more than twenty hawkish loyalists were left with only their heads exposed.

As if forcibly planted into the stone floor.

Seeds buried in the earth.

Waiting for next year's bloom.

Gulp.

Gulp.

The sound of people swallowing echoed one after another.

The oppressive weight hanging over the Uchiha clan made even breathing difficult.

No one dared draw a deep breath, afraid that the next person "planted" into the ground would be themselves.

Behind Jin, Fugaku watched the scene with an indescribably complicated expression.

Inside him, waves churned violently.

He already understood Jin's strength—

but he never imagined that this second son, who usually looked lazy and half-dead, could be this decisive when it truly mattered.

Power?

Power over the Uchiha?

He didn't mind it at all.

He could even help Jin grasp that authority with both hands.

But still…

Was this really the same second son—

the one who was a bit jumpy, occasionally unhinged?

As these thoughts passed through his mind, Fugaku's expression grew even more complex.

There was relief.

There was worry.

But more than anything, there was the exhaustion of a tremendous burden being forcibly lifted from his shoulders.

Truth be told, stepping back into the shadows didn't sound bad at all.

He stayed silent, took half a step back, and fully handed the stage over to Jin.

"Who objects?"

Jin repeated himself, his gaze like a cold searchlight slowly sweeping across the crowd.

Wherever his eyes landed, clan members immediately lowered their heads, unwilling to meet his stare.

"It seems… no one objects."

His voice remained calm, yet it carried unquestionable authority into every ear.

Then he stepped forward.

One foot came down squarely on an elder's head.

Left hand on his hip, right hand waving casually, Jin spoke:

"Then I'll say a few things."

"First."

He raised a finger and pointed at the heads sticking out of the ground beneath his foot.

"These people harbored malicious intent toward the clan elders and the clan head, incited internal chaos, and are guilty beyond redemption."

"Out of respect for Uchiha blood, the death penalty is waived—but—

they will be imprisoned and forced to reflect."

"They will not be released until I decide they've turned over a new leaf."

"This point—does anyone object?"

He paused.

In his scarlet eyes, the enlarged three-tomoe pattern spun at high speed.

Like a beast choosing its prey.

The aura of predation alone caused unrest among the crowd.

"Three tomoe?! That's a three-tomoe Sharingan!"

"To think Uchiha Arata has already awakened three tomoe at such a young age?!"

In a clan where most people only possessed two tomoe, three tomoe already rivaled the elders and elite jōnin!

And Jin—barely over ten years old—had reached three tomoe!

Didn't that mean…

In the future, the clan might gain yet another Mangekyō?!

At this thought, people's hearts began to stir.

Overwhelming strength.

Young age.

Extraordinary status.

If such a person were to lead them… it actually made sense.

But just then—

The Second Elder's eyes suddenly widened, his breathing turning rapid as he stared at Jin's eyes.

"No!"

"That's not three tomoe!"

"It's… it's… it's the Mangekyō!"

His voice was slow, but utterly certain.

As a clan elder, he knew far more than most about the Mangekyō.

Boom!

Those words detonated like a bomb within the clan.

"Mangekyō?! Isn't that the legendary ultimate goal of our Uchiha?!"

"Hahaha! Wonderful! It's Mangekyō! The Uchiha are saved!"

The clan erupted into discussion.

All resistance vanished from their hearts.

Who cared if he was young?

A Mangekyō was all that mattered!

On the ground, the Third Elder—just waking up—was completely stunned.

"Mangekyō… Mangekyō Sharingan…"

He muttered to himself, a bitter smile slowly forming at the corner of his mouth.

If he had known it was a Mangekyō…

He wouldn't have dared wag his tail no matter what.

Gradually, the hundreds of Uchiha fell silent.

"Second."

Seeing this, Jin turned to the now-leaderless hawkish faction and spoke calmly:

"The Konoha higher-ups incited Uchiha Itachi to betray us because they fear the Sharingan."

"They fear the power of the Uchiha."

"So they used the most despicable method—

forcing us to slaughter ourselves, collapsing us from within."

Damn Konoha's high command!

These words reignited the suppressed fury in every Uchiha's heart.

"But!"

Jin's voice suddenly rose, like thunder crashing down and suppressing the entire crowd.

"Anger and blind revenge will only make us die faster—and more miserably!"

"Just like tonight. You were this close to all being dead."

"And someone as strong as Itachi—Konoha has at least four more like him."

"You—what will you fight them with?"

The blunt, cruel question hit like ice water poured over their heads.

The freshly ignited fury was forcibly pressed down.

For the first time, many clan members felt a deep sense of helplessness.

They all knew how strong Konoha was.

Even after countless wars, it remained the strongest of the Five Great Villages.

That fact was undeniable.

Seeing this, the Second Elder first glanced at Jin, then turned to Fugaku with a trembling voice:

"Clan Head Fugaku… then… then what should we do?"

"Are we… are we supposed to just wait for death?"

Fugaku's lips moved.

He wanted to say, you were all already dead.

But after hesitating, he decided to spare them the humiliation.

He simply looked toward Jin.

Perhaps the Uchiha truly needed a new leader.

Seeing this, Jin slowly raised his hand.

First, he pointed at the land beneath their feet—the Uchiha's segregated living area.

Then, he pointed beyond the compound, toward the vast Konoha Village bathed in moonlight.

The Uchiha had spent too long in the Military Police.

Their blades had grown dull.

It was time to change.

Taking a deep breath, Jin declared in a low, powerful voice:

"Wait for death? People in that village have already started selling Uchiha goods at inflated prices."

"Today it's fifty ryō for a bowl of ramen."

"What about tomorrow?"

"Five thousand? Fifty thousand?"

"Or—five hundred thousand?"

The chain of questions reignited the fire in everyone's hearts.

Twists and turns.

Yet the flame only burned hotter.

Sensing the timing was right, Jin's voice turned decisive:

"So—we must change the status quo!"

"Take down the two advisors."

"Seize control of the economic power!"

"Huh? Isn't that still a coup?"

The Second Elder blinked, confused.

He understood Jin's words—

but wasn't this still a coup?

His confusion was shared by many.

Before the fire burned, it was a coup.

After the fire burned… it was still a coup?

Then what was the point of stoking the flames?

"No!"

Jin shook a finger lightly.

"When it fails, it's a coup."

"When it succeeds—"

He paused, then added inwardly,

"—it's called setting things right."

"Or," he said aloud,

"a revolution."
