As an item An Xora had purchased from the discount section for a full 6,400 points, the Holy Grail was, without question, extremely reliable in its effects.
After Mebius made her wish, An Xora and Mebius successfully used the Grail's power to legally obtain, in this world, a well-equipped biological research facility—along with vast reserves of wealth stored within it.
As for the location of the research base, Mebius chose City A—the most developed and safest city in the One Punch Man world. In the original story, the headquarters of the Hero Association was also located in City A.
Although City A would be destroyed once in the future during the invasion of the arc's first major boss, Boros, that was still far off. With knowledge of the original plot, Mebius had plenty of ways to prevent that from ever happening.
In fact, aside from using the Holy Grail to take a direct shortcut like this, there was another way to obtain a laboratory suitable for Mebius's research along with large amounts of funding—
Robbing the House of Evolution from the original story.
As a villain organization that had created large numbers of monsters, the House of Evolution was actually a perfect match for Mebius's style. If they could take it over smoothly, then with its extensive research data on monster modification, Mebius could immediately establish herself in this world and begin all kinds of monster-related experiments—saving a huge amount of early development time.
Unfortunately, the original story never clearly stated the exact location of the House of Evolution. At the very least, An Xora couldn't remember it. Searching for it would likely take a lot of time—far less convenient than simply using the Holy Grail.
Following the location information transmitted directly into their minds by the Grail, An Xora activated the Rumble-Rumble Fruit and carried Mebius to their destination.
"Looks decent enough."
Standing before the research base, Mebius didn't say much and simply entered together with An Xora.
"The equipment is indeed very comprehensive. Everything essential is here. We're only missing some devices unique to the Honkai world, but that's not a serious issue."
"With this research base and the funds stored here, once we procure some experimental materials, we can basically begin research on the Kryptonian bloodline and on monsters."
As a project personally designated by An Xora, the Kryptonian bloodline held extremely high priority for Mebius.
That said, with An Xora's memories, Mebius was well aware of just how outrageous Kryptonians were as a species. Extracting meaningful results would take time—this wasn't something that could be rushed.
So while researching the Kryptonian bloodline, Mebius had no problem expanding into additional side projects—such as monsters.
For monsters, a species unique to the One Punch Man world, Mebius's interest was immense. In the original story, monsters varied wildly in both origin and abilities, often in ways that completely defied logic.
Ordinary humans—or even animals, plants, or inanimate objects—could become monsters for all kinds of bizarre reasons. And among them were many terrifyingly powerful individuals capable of casually destroying towns or threatening entire cities.
Watching it from behind a screen had already felt absurd enough. Now that she was truly here, Mebius found it not only absurd—but fascinating.
However, whether it was Kryptonians or monsters, proper research would still have to wait a little while. At present, the base had equipment and money—but nothing else. Even starting to procure experimental materials would take a day or two.
Before that, there was something Mebius needed to prioritize.
She needed to use the Sesha Gene An Xora had given her earlier to perform fusion warrior surgery on herself.
Since An Xora hadn't granted Mebius any powers when manifesting her, she was, in the strictest sense, just an ordinary scientist right now. In a world like One Punch Man, lacking strength meant lacking the ability to protect oneself.
Without quickly arranging the fusion warrior surgery, Mebius felt deeply insecure.
"Nothing's going to go wrong, right?"
Watching Mebius adjust various instruments as she prepared to perform fusion warrior surgery on herself, An Xora asked.
"Relax. The Sesha Gene has extremely high compatibility with me. And the fusion warrior technology in my memory is already very mature. As long as there's no major mistake, failure is impossible."
Mebius replied casually while tuning the equipment, clearly unconcerned.
"Besides, with the resurrection function available, even if something truly goes wrong and the surgery fails, Master, you can just revive us avatars after twenty-four hours, can't you?"
Seeing how unconcerned she was, it was obvious that Mebius had absolutely no anxiety about the procedure.
"The entire fusion warrior process will take about four hours," she continued.
"So I'll have to trouble Master to wait on your own for a bit. If you get bored, you can go out for a walk—I'll be fine by myself."
"Let's not," An Xora shook his head.
"If something really does happen after I leave, that would be bad. It's only four hours—waiting isn't a big deal."
An Xora might enjoy taking it easy, but he wasn't completely lacking in emotional intelligence. Leaving Mebius alone at a time like this didn't feel appropriate. What if something truly unexpected happened after he left?
Even with resurrection as a safety net, it was better to avoid risks when possible.
"Well, this is rare," Mebius chuckled.
"I didn't expect Master to make that kind of decision. Should I be properly moved by it?"
With all preparations complete, Mebius spoke as she inserted the Sesha Gene into the apparatus. After a series of operations, she lay down on the operating table.
An Xora stepped out of the lab and found a place nearby to wait.
Four hours later.
With a soft mechanical sound, the laboratory doors slowly opened.
Mebius walked out.
Although her appearance seemed unchanged, her presence was completely different. Her spirit and aura were worlds apart from before—vastly stronger in every sense.
Clearly, the fusion warrior surgery had gone perfectly.
Mebius had successfully fused with the Sesha Gene, reclaiming the power she remembered.
"At my current level, if I go all out, I'd probably rank around Dragon-level in this world," she said calmly.
"As long as I don't provoke certain exceptional existences, self-preservation shouldn't be a problem anymore."
Among the Thirteen Flame-Chasers, Mebius wasn't known for raw combat power. But with Artificial Honkai Eruption and the immortality granted by the Sesha Gene, aside from a certain bald man and a handful of special cases, there were likely no enemies left in this world capable of posing a lethal threat to her.
On-Sale Author's Note
There's not much to say, honestly. I wrote a book like normal, and now it's going on sale like normal. These days, the barrier to becoming an author is low, and getting a book on the shelves isn't really anything special.
As for updates: including the chapter you just read, I'm planning to release four chapters today. The remaining three should go up gradually from noon to evening. I don't have any stockpiled chapters—everything is written fresh. Other people's "mass updates" come from saved drafts; mine come purely from grinding it out.
So, considering the effort, I'd really appreciate it if everyone could support the book with a first-day subscription. With poor performance, even writing purely out of passion becomes hard to sustain—being broke is just too rough.
Also, regarding the worlds mentioned in the synopsis—JOJO and Konosuba will definitely be written later. The synopsis had a word limit, so I originally listed a lot of worlds but had to cut it down to Jujutsu Kaisen, JOJO, and Konosuba.
In addition to those, future arcs will include One Punch Man, Arknights, DanMachi, Campione, Honkai: Star Rail, and a multi-series modern setting (various slice-of-life anime + Mieruko-chan + a spiritual awakening world view), among others.
There's no fixed order, so don't worry if a world you like hasn't appeared yet.
