Chapter 5 - RUNNING AWAY AGAIN

GEORGIE

"Oh Georgie, you are finally back. I hope you made him feel better because we cannot afford to have Mr. Stone angry."

The moment those words left my madam's mouth, something inside me snapped. I stood there, looking like a lost soul, exhausted from the marathon jungle she had just walked, my mind heavy, and yet she was smiling as she owned me.

I glanced at her slowly, annoyance burning in my chest.

"The last time I checked," I said calmly, with my hands shaking.

"I owed you six million." Her smile disappeared instantly, but I continued anyway.

"Yesterday, you were paid ten million. That means you are supposed to give me two million and keep two million as appreciation." I explained.

"Wh… what? Why? That money is mine." she cried out.

A bitter scoff escaped my lips. "Whatever nonsense you are thinking, stop it," I continued, my voice firm now. "I am quitting and I don't want anything to do with you anymore. I am done."

Her face twisted in anger. "You ungrateful bitch. The money…"

"Don't get started with me," I cut her off. "I have the contract we signed. Everything is there." She stared at me like she wanted to rip my face apart.

"I am even giving you an extra two million," I added. "Without me, there was no way you would have gotten ten million. It was very clear he paid that money because of me. If I wanted trouble, I wouldn't make things easy for you."

Her fists tightened, and I saw her bite her lip hard, struggling to hold herself back.

"You will regret this," she said slowly.

But I rolled my eyes, and angrily she pulled out her phone. "Where am I sending it to?" I couldn't explain the delight in me hearing her ask this, I am finally leaving this hellhole of a woman.

I snatched the phone from her hand and typed in my account details myself and a second later, she hit send.

"There," she said through clenched teeth. "I don't want to see you here ever again or I will be the one to make life a living hell for you." A hearty smile escaped my lips.

"It was nice working with you," I replied flatly, and at once I took my small purse and walked out without looking back.

The moment I stepped outside, I took a deep breath. The air felt different.

For the first time in a long while, I felt like I had escaped a cage. That building, that woman, that job, it had been a hellhole.

I pulled out my phone and dialed a number I had memorized by heart.

It rang once before it was picked.

"One million has been sent to your account, as per our agreement." There was a sharp gasp on the other end before he finally spoke.

"How did you get that amount in such a short time?"

"That doesn't matter," I replied, my voice cracking slightly. "Give me her location now!" I let out with clenched teeth.

"You don't have to use that tone on me, woman!"

"Dad!" I yelled, pain ripping through me, "If you continue to do that you might not see her forever." he let out.

I bit my lip, anger and helplessness flooding my chest as my eyes burned.

"Fine," I whispered. "I just want to see her… is it that hard for you to do?" I cried out.

"Good… I just sent you the location." Before I could speak again the call ended.

I didn't waste time sucking up before I boarded a taxi immediately. The drive felt long and silent.

The more we moved away from the city, the more my chest tightened after almost an hour's drive. When I finally arrived, my heart sank seeing the place.

High walls surrounded the place, and as one lived there, the iron gates stood firm as nothing could escape from inside.

The building itself looked lifeless, with narrow windows. It didn't look like a hospital. It looked more like a place where people were forgotten.

This place was more like an asylum, tears welled up in my eyes at the thought of my sister being in this place.

I stepped out of the taxi slowly, my legs feeling weak as more pain tore through me. It felt like my chest was being crushed. I rushed inside instantly.

"I am here to see my sister.. Liana Sandals," I said desperately to the nurse I met at the counter. "Please."

The nurse glanced at her computer and frowned slightly.

"She was discharged earlier today. Hearing that I felt my world stop.

"What?" I screamed. "How? Who discharged her?"

"That information is confidential," the nurse replied calmly.

"She's my twin sister!" I cried, tears rolling down my cheeks. "How can you discharge her without telling me?"

The nurse smiled faintly and looked away. I raised my voice, tears trickling down my face. "Please tell me who came to discharge her… please." I pleaded with everything in me, I have been doing everything to protect her all this time, why is everything getting ruined now?

"Escort her out," the nurse said coldly, and then I saw two guards behind me, before I could even refuse they dragged me outside.

I sat outside the gate frustrated and not knowing what exactly I should do, then just sat there hoping someone would come save me.

At that moment my phone decided to ring, angrily I picked it up without checking the caller.

"Long time no speaking," a familiar voice said and my body went stiff.

"Did you take my sister?" I whispered, fear crawling all over me, and there the deadly laugh came.

"You went against the deal," he replied.

"It was just a day!" I yelled. "I didn't even go to him, he met me at my place of work! I even quit because of him!"

"I don't give a fuck," he replied calmly. "Lucian has seen you and he wants you now."

I shook my head violently. "I quit and I would not let our path cross again, why are you making things so hard for me?"

He laughed loudly. "My daughter is currently in the city to see Lucian. I wouldn't want any crazy mistake to destroy a plan I have built for years."

My heart dropped at once as I replayed his statement, so she was the one who had called him last night.

"There are only a few weeks left for Lucian and my daughter to get married," he continued. "Until then, I will keep your sister. So stay away from him to keep her safe."

Just then a black car pulled up in front of me.

"Get in, your passport is ready," he ordered. "Leave the country and make no contact with Lucian. If you obey, your sister lives."

"And if I don't?" I whispered.

"She dies." Tears streamed down my face, again it's happening always left in the between hard choices.

I got into the car, after all Lucian sees me as a whore and will never take me as his woman.

The best choice I can make right now is to save my sister.

The drive to the airport felt unreal, just like years ago I was leaving without having a choice.

I got to the crowded airport, people moving to and fro yet I felt alone.

I took a deep breath and walked to the counter placing the already arranged document. I waited a few minutes before the officer finally spoke out.

"I am sorry," the officer said after checking my details. "You can't leave the state as of now."

"What?" I asked in shock. "Everything is correct… There must be a mistake somewhere." I let out and then my phone rang again.

I picked it up without checking, still trying to speak with the officer when the voice rang in my ear.

"Running away again sweetheart?"

My heart stopped at once, that voice wasn't only coming from the phone I slowly turned hoping I was hallucinating but I was wrong.

There Lucian stood calmly, his sunglasses on, his presence dominating the space as he owned it.

"Lucian," I whispered and the phone slipped from my hand.
