Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: The Witch’s Feast

After a brief moment of daze, Faust immediately realized what was happening. He held his breath and focused his mind. He spoke with great care.

"You are..."

'This cannot be another hallucination. I am actually starting to get scared.'

[Son of Man, please calm the doubts in your heart. I am not a false existence. I am the Fairy who has formed a contract with you.]

As if to prove its accuracy, Faust felt the skin where the Curse Mark was located grow increasingly hot. A wave of warmth brushed over his body, and he finally calmed down.

The Prince took a long breath. "Excellency... I have made a fool of myself."

Although he had inherited the Curse Mark from his expensive foster father, Faust did not actually have high expectations for it. He mostly viewed the item as a symbol of royal power.

After all, the old King had only received a few revelations over several decades. Such a low frequency was practically better than nothing.

Even if he possessed the "talent to be favored by Fairies," Faust still did not place much hope in them. It was best not to expect too much from an ability he could not control himself.

However, he did not expect to establish a connection with a Fairy so quickly. It seemed this "talent" was not a lie.

Faust calmed his mind and asked about what had just happened. "What did you mean by Charm? Was I hypnotized by her?"

His previous condition was clearly abnormal. If the other party had some kind of hypnosis Skill, then everything made sense.

'How bold! Someone actually dared to use hypnosis on me!'

Anger rose in the heart of the Prince. Although he could not do anything about it himself, he was now connected to a Fairy. No matter how strange the Spells were, surely a Fairy could solve them?

Faust immediately asked for help.

"Excellency! Please help me. Being targeted by such an evil Spell makes me feel very uneasy!"

However, the reply from the Fairy left Faust stunned.

[Spells? Son of Man, you should know that was not any kind of Spell. It was the work of fate.]

"Fate?"

Faust was startled. "What does that mean?"

He expected that the Fairy would not agree to his request so easily. However, he did not expect the other party to say such a confusing word.

[In principle, I should not say these things to a Son of Man. But you have already awakened, so...]

The Fairy remained silent for a moment. Then, it whispered into the ear of Faust.

[Do you believe in fate?]

Fate. This word was not rare at all. Everyone talked about it often. In the eyes of Faust, it was merely an excuse people used when they wanted to complain. But now that a Fairy mentioned it, he sensed something. He frowned slightly.

Without waiting for a reply from the Prince, the Fairy continued.

[The Wheel of Fate exists. It is the ultimate truth that rules over all things. It is the underlying logic of how the world functions.]

"The Wheel of Fate?"

[To use a concept that a Son of Man can understand, the Wheel of Fate is a "Script." Only by experiencing hardships, trials, adventures, and twists can one receive a gift.]

Faust spoke immediately. "I know about that. In legends, Fairies give trials of fate to mortals. They prepare all kinds of challenges and difficult problems."

This was common knowledge that everyone knew. The legendary stories created by those who went through trials were called Heroic Tales. They were a necessary part of the culture in any kingdom.

Even the expensive foster father of Faust, the founding King of the Qingxi Kingdom, was the protagonist of a Heroic Tale.

It was precisely because Fairies acted as the absolute judges of everything that mortals feared and respected these ancient beings.

However, the situation was completely different when described by the Fairy.

[...Son of Man, you always view us Fairies as high and mighty beings. You believe we are gods who manipulate fate. But the truth is not like that. There is no difference in status between us. We simply play different roles on the stage of fate. Our duty is to provide guidance and blessings to those who walk the path of fate.]

[Whether it is a Son of Man or one of us Fairies, we are all humble servants beneath the surging tide of fate.]

Faust remained silent after hearing this. He rubbed his chin and fell into deep thought. After a moment, he suddenly realized the truth.

"I understand. That is why I was attracted to that girl and felt such fanatical love, right?"

[You accept things very quickly. Most awakened Sons of Man find it very difficult to believe in the Wheel of Fate at first. They would rather believe their abnormality was caused by Spells.]

In the past, Faust would have been skeptical as well. He would not have wanted to accept the vague idea of "fate."

But... damn it. Even Cinderella had appeared. He had no choice but to believe it. The world of fairy tales was far too focused on destiny!

The Prince must fall in love with Cinderella at first sight. If not, the "Story" would not be able to continue!

Faust took a deep breath. "So, was I chosen by you because I am the protagonist of the upcoming stage of fate?"

[The protagonist...]

The tone of the Fairy was slightly strange. It replied.

[Unfortunately, in the Script of fate currently being performed, the true protagonists are the Witches.]

"Witches?"

Faust was stunned. He first thought of Warlocks, but he immediately dismissed that idea. A concept emphasized by a Fairy could not be that shallow.

Fortunately, this Fairy did not like to keep secrets. It sang softly in the ear of the Prince.

[O person loved by a Witch, I will tell these words only to you.]

[Witches are destined to obtain happiness. They twist the boundaries between reality and illusion according to their wishes to fulfill their burning love.]

[They do not allow their innocence or passion to fail. For that, they will not hesitate to overturn everything.]

[There is a hierarchy among the Scripts of fate. Most Scripts require the guidance and management of us Fairies. However, when it comes to the fate of a Witch, no Fairy can interfere or even perceive it. We can only follow and watch.]

[Using the words of you humans, this type of fate should be called a "Witch's Feast."]

Faust blinked. "So the reason you chose to form a contract with me..."

[Even though you are only a supporting character on the stage of fate, I thought that if I stayed by your side, I might see something interesting. That is all.]

The blunt words of the Fairy made Faust feel deeply hurt. As a proud Prince, he really did not want to admit he was just a supporting character. He was even more annoyed that the Fairy only chose him because he could provide entertainment.

But if he thought about it carefully... the so-called Prince in fairy tales was indeed the most basic tool.

He did not need a name or character development. The existence of a Prince was simply to be the perfect partner for the female protagonist. He was the final prize given to them.

'Wow, I am really being looked down upon!'

What made him even angrier was that he could not even argue!

Faust sighed and shook his head repeatedly.

[Why be so sad, Son of Man? It is an unprecedented miracle that you were able to awaken within the fate of a Witch. You can be proud of that.]

Faust gave a bitter smile.

"I just find it troublesome. Now that I have suddenly learned these secrets, the difficulty of achieving my ideal has increased by more than one level."

The Fairy asked curiously.

[What is your ideal?]

When this topic was mentioned, the Prince replied without any hesitation.

"That goes without saying. Naturally, it is to conquer the world and rule over everything!"
