"The empress attacked my mistress, splashing hot soup on her face, and she burnt her hands", Cathy responded to Renata's questions.
"That sounds awful. Are you okay?" she asked, turning to Evie. "I am okay, princess, thanks for asking", Evie responded.
"Why would she do such an awful thing?" she asked. "She thought I went there to gloat about her miscarriage", Evie answered.
"So typical of her", Renata said. "All her family cares about is her giving the emperor an heir to the throne, and constantly looking down on her for not being able to give birth, so she really thinks everybody does that as well", Renata said, summarising the issues with the empress.
The conversation turned back to them talking about their daily life, and the carriage stopped at the main gate, and they went down one by one.
Another carriage stopped next to them, and the emperor alighted, helping Isabella down, who rushed to Renata. "Princess, welcome back", she said, trying to hold her arms.
