Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: Asia and the Fallen Angel

One in the afternoon.

Kaiser returned to his home in the main world.

The villa was empty; Shiho Miyano and the others were clearly out.

"Hm?"

Glancing at the date, Kaiser's eyes flickered.

Time flowed differently.

The main world passed slower than Akame ga Kill's.

Different worlds—normal.

Back in his room, Kaiser used his devil summoning contract from that world as a coordinate to construct a teleportation circle.

This way, with his permission, his peerage could freely travel between worlds.

Hum!

Once finished, as he prepared to contact Shiho and the others, a fluctuation caught his attention.

"Someone's casting a repelling barrier?"

Kaiser's brow arched, a playful smile forming.

"And using light power, not magic?"

"Exorcist or fallen angel? If it's Raynare's group, even better."

Fresh back and already action.

Luck was unstoppable.

His figure vanished from the room.

Tap tap tap!

Empty streets echoed only with hurried footsteps.

"God, please protect me."

Asia prayed while sprinting.

But her pace slowed, her white nun's habit soiled with grime.

Despair crept in.

Was this the end?

She sensed the fallen angel behind her hadn't shaken her off.

He was toying with her, enjoying the hunt.

Yet escape was her only option.

Trip!

She stumbled over something, balance lost.

Is it over?

The thought flooded her mind.

But!

No pain came—instead, a warm embrace.

Who?

Asia looked up, meeting a handsome face.

"Looks like you need some help."

Kaiser steadied her, his voice gentle.

Asia Argento.

Jackpot.

Seeing the glowing devil contract, Kaiser smiled.

"Th-Thank you." Asia thanked instinctively, then urged, "Run! It's dangerous here."

She knew fallen angels' ways.

This handsome boy would suffer if involved.

Her death was one thing—she couldn't drag others down.

"Don't worry, I'm strong," Kaiser said, ruffling her hair with a smile. "I can handle any trouble for you."

"B-But listen—the fallen angel behind us is a mythical being!"

"So what?"

"You… I'm serious!"

Asia nearly cried.

Couldn't he understand?

To ordinary people, mentioning fallen angels sounded insane.

"Relax. Even a fallen angel can't hurt you with me here," Kaiser said solemnly. "But in return, you become mine."

"Huh?" Asia froze, face flaming.

Was this… a proposal?

Love at first sight?

"N-No, listen—"

"No need for explanations. Just agree."

"I… I agree." Determination filled Asia's eyes. "But we escape together."

If words failed, this was her only way.

So kind.

Kaiser glanced at her, nodding.

"Run!"

Asia pulled him a few steps before a burly man in a heavy coat and bowler hat blocked them.

She retreated, bitter smile forming. "Sorry… I got you involved."

"It's fine. I've got this," Kaiser said, holding her hand with a warm smile.

Donaseek: "…"

Watching, his mouth twitched.

Seriously? Flirting now?

But sensing Kaiser's aura, his gaze iced over.

"So that's it. No wonder you breached my barrier—a devil."

Asia trembled. "H-He's lying, right?"

"Nope," Kaiser grinned. "I'm a devil."

"Huh?" Asia stiffened, voice breaking. "Why does this keep happening to me?"

Already unlucky—exiled from the Church for healing a devil, hunted by fallen angels.

Now in a devil's hands.

"Don't fear. I mean no harm," Kaiser patted her head, smiling. "Or I'd have acted already, right?"

That… made sense.

Asia blinked.

A kind devil?

Hope glimmered in her eyes.

"Enough from you two," Donaseek snarled, veins bulging. "Am I invisible?"

Boom!

Air exploded.

Black wings unfurled behind him as he soared.

"A mere devil dares ignore me?"

"Courting death."

Light gathered in his hand, forming a spear of light, hurled at Kaiser.

Swish!

The spear screamed through the air, rippling visibly.

"Watch out!" Asia paled, watching helplessly as it neared Kaiser.

But next—

Thud!

A dull sound.

The spear halted—stopped by a single finger.
