Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: Engagement Formed!

Zastin was somewhat confused after hearing Shiro's words. He hadn't expected this Earthling to speak up at all.

"Shiro, do you have something to say?"

Lala saw that Shiro looked like he had something to say, so she decided to give him the floor.

"What I want to say is that you two are being followed. Haven't you noticed?"

After hearing this, Zastin looked left and right and couldn't help but speak.

"Young man, how is that possible? I haven't noticed absolutely anything."

"Eh… Shiro, why would you say that?"

Lala was in Shiro's arms, her eyes full of confusion.

"There's no need to hide anymore. Your strength is the strongest here. Your aura can't be concealed from me. You're exactly 21.54 meters away from me, at the nine o'clock direction."

Immediately after that, everyone turned their heads toward the direction Shiro was looking, and then a figure appeared from the shadows.

The other party was dressed, how should one put it, clearly like an assassin, and carried a sword on his back.

His entire presence radiated an icy, frightening atmosphere.

"I didn't expect that someone on this planet could detect me. That truly surprises me."

"By the way, who are you? As far as I understand, no one on a planet like this should be able to detect me."

At that moment, the person spoke in a flat and cold voice.

Zastin's eyes widened when he saw the other party, and he hurriedly drew his green longsword.

"Ghost Blade, a five-star assassin on the Cosmic Assassin List, why are you here?"

"Logically speaking, isn't your area of activity in the East?"

Zastin rushed forward at tremendous speed, positioning himself in front of Shiro and the two of them, and questioned him. He knew he was no match for that person.

But he wasn't afraid and directly stood in front of them.

"I simply took on an assassination mission. The target just happens to be named Lala Satalin Deviluke."

"The Princess of Deviluke."

"I originally thought I would have to fight the King of Deviluke, but I didn't expect her to run away from that planet herself, which saved me a lot of trouble."

As he said this, a smile appeared on his lips.

After hearing this, Lala still seemed carefree.

"Did he come to kill me?"

"Princess Lala."

"Young man from Earth, Princess Lala, please take her and run. No matter where you run to, just run. I will do my best to hold this guy back."

Zastin said this in a serious tone, then rushed forward.

"Zastin!"

Ghost Blade watched the captain of the Royal Guard charge toward him, but he didn't draw his sword. He merely stepped aside, avoided the swing, then powerfully kicked Zastin and sent him flying backward.

"Pfft!"

Zastin was sent flying back and fell to the ground.

Shiro watched the other party lying on the ground after being defeated with a single strike, his expression twisted, and couldn't help but feel powerless.

"Didn't you say you'd help me hold him back? And then you get knocked away with one hit?"

If Shiro remembered correctly, this guy had always had terrible results. He even wondered whether he had bought his position. Now that he saw this, he was sure. This guy had definitely bought that position.

Zastin tried to get up, but the blow had been too heavy; he felt as if his internal organs had shifted. He tried to force his body to rise, but he simply couldn't.

"Princess Lala, run!"

At that moment, Ghost Blade approached. Shiro and Lala watched him stop less than ten meters away from them and look at them.

"Young man from Earth who detected me."

"And Princess of Deviluke."

"Don't you two plan to run?"

"I can give you a chance to run."

As he spoke, his tone carried a hint of mockery, clearly treating them as prey. Letting them run was only to increase the fun of the hunt.

"No!"

"I'm not running."

Lala spoke at that moment.

Ghost Blade was somewhat surprised when he heard that.

"Why?"

"Shiro will protect me!"

Lala spoke in a confident tone, which left Shiro somewhat confused.

Ghost Blade was also momentarily stunned. What kind of logic was this? He had followed them all the way here and knew very well that these two had no prior relationship. And yet, this Princess believed the other party could protect her. Did she think that just because this Earthling had detected him, he was capable of protecting her?

If that was really the case, he felt he was being underestimated, and wasn't this Princess far too naive?

After all, he didn't sense any aura of a powerful person from this young man at all.

And before Ghost Blade could speak, Shiro spoke first:

"Wait, why are you so sure that I'll protect you?"

After hearing this, Lala said in an innocent tone:

"From the room until now, haven't you been protecting me the whole time?"

Damn it! It seemed a misunderstanding had occurred. He had sensed a rare opponent, someone stronger than the people here, someone he could play with, so he brought her along to draw him out. He hadn't expected it to be misunderstood. He had no other intentions; after sensing something unusual, he just wanted to draw that guy out and kill him. And now, an obvious misunderstanding had formed.

Shiro thought that since it had already been misunderstood, it might as well stay that way.

"Then, my Princess, you can see for yourself that this guy in front of us is a terrifying enemy. Even the captain of your Royal Guard was instantly defeated."

"This is a very difficult task, and don't you think I'd be at a disadvantage like this?"

"And this guy in front of us is really powerful, alright? I might even lose my life. You should at least give me a reason to fight for you. After all, you're not Mikan nor someone of mine."

"Besides, we only just met."

After hearing this, Lala thought for a moment, then said with a slightly troubled expression:

"I'm sorry, I can't think of any relationship between us right now."

"Oh~ that's right!"

"According to Deviluke customs, since you touched my chest in the bathroom, that counts as a proposal. Do you want to be my fiancé?"

Lala suddenly remembered, or rather, recalled it.

After that, as long as she agreed, the engagement would automatically be established.

"One question, do your customs allow multiple wives?"

"For example, if I have ten or twenty wives or something like that."

After hearing this, Lala replied without thinking:

"Yes, it's allowed~ On our planet, there are no rules that prohibit multiple wives. I remember that many ministers in our country have many wives."

"Then, Lala, do you want to be one of my wives?"

"Yes!"

"Engagement established!"

Lala agreed in a cheerful voice.

"Princess Lala, how can you just get engaged to someone like that?"

"And as a Princess, how can you become one of someone's wives?"

Zastin was completely stunned at that moment. He had never expected his Princess to get engaged so casually to an Earthling, and that the other party had even asked such a question before the engagement.

And it was clear that he wanted to marry the Princess as just one of his wives. How could that be allowed?

Shiro ignored this guy, then put Lala down and said:

"Since you're my fiancée, then it's only natural that I protect you."

Honestly, Shiro felt a bit, how should he put it, strange. He really couldn't understand the way this Princess thought.

Too unpredictable! To be honest, abducting a runaway Princess who was this naive gave him a trace of guilt.

However, thinking about her figure, her looks, and everything else, he immediately discarded that guilt. After all, he was a man who had obtained this scenario, so guilt wasn't necessary.
